Taking a strong stand! After Twitter erupted with harsh criticism of The Honest Company's zinc-based sunscreen, co-founder Jessica Alba took to her brand's blog on Monday, Aug. 3, to share a heartfelt defense with her consumers.
The Sin City: A Dame to Kill For actress, 34, began, "Protecting our loved ones and yours is the reason we founded The Honest Company. As parents, it pains us to hear that anyone has had a negative experience with our Sunscreen. We develop and use Honest Sunscreen to protect our own children — Honor, Haven, Luke, Evie, and Poppy — at the park, in the pool, outside, every day. As with everything we do, we take sun protection seriously here at Honest."
The mom to Honor, 7, and Haven, 3, who co-founded the all-natural label with Christopher Gavigan, went on to explain that the sunscreen in question has been recently reformulated — and heavily tested — to make sure it is more water resistant for a longer period of time. Alba also noted that the lotion has received "the best score possible from the Environmental Working Group (EWG)" (an organization committed to fighting against toxic products).
Nevertheless, the actress, who has been married to Cash Warren since 2008, said that she has heard the complaints, and is determined to make amends. "What matters most to us is your trust and confidence. We're passionate about living up to your expectations as much as our own," the Dark Angel alum wrote. "We've personally picked up the phone to speak with many of you… [and] our team is reaching out to everyone who has posted on social media to assure you that we're committed to your safety and satisfaction… As always, we'll do what it takes to make it right."
