When Jenna Fischer and filmmaker James Gunn ended their seven year marriage in 2007, The Office star, 36, didn't exactly explode on the singles scene.
"I thought I'd go wild with Freedom, but instead I did what I did in college–stay home with my cats," Fischer tells Redbook in the March issue. "I didn't want to waste time. I remember going out with one cute, funny guy, I thought, 'We could have a really fun eight months, but that's eight months I'm taking away from finding Mr. Right.'"
Luckily for the Hall Pass actress, Mr. Right was right across the table — literally! — in the form of screenwriter Lee Kirk.
"I was having weekly script dinners with Lee and realized, I'm looking at basically the perfect man," says Fischer, who wed Kirk in Malibu last July.
And after spending time with new niece Cecelia, Fischer says she's ready to embark on the next step.
"I already wanted kids, but even more so now," she says. "When Cecelia was 3 weeks old, Pam was on maternity leave [on The Office], so I had a whole week off to spend with her. We really bonded."
