Jennifer Lopez: "I'm Not the Monster I Used to Be" with Exercise
Has Jennifer Lopez let herself go? Has she sworn off the gym and calorie counting?
Of course not -- but she has chilled out, now that she's a 40 year-old mother of twins Emme and Max, 21 months (their dad is her husband Marc Anthony).
"I'm not the monster I used to be in the exercise department," Lopez says in the January issue of Allure. "You get past your 20s, you've got kids...you're kind of unmotivated."
The famously curvy singer-actress admits, "You want to be healthy and look good, but you want to do the least amount to maintain that."

When she does need to hit the red carpet or a performance stage (as she did at November's AMAs, where she slipped off a male dancer's sweaty back), the star practices a more vigorous and frequent gym routine. Food-wise, Lopez says she's a "big portion control person."

The star also offers Allure some frank insight into the childhood roots of her ambition: the unintended absence of her dad. "My dad worked nights and slept during the day, so we never saw him much," she says.

"He was a wonderful, loving father...but even so, I would lie in bed at night and tell myself over and over 'I know my daddy loves me.' I wondered about it...if because of his absence he didn't care about me or about us. And believe me, my dad was the best. But these little things happen to you when you're younger."

Jeez Louise, Camilla (12/16/09), you indicated that you're not hating, but you are girlfriend, trust and believe. Why would you refer to Jennifer as a "bad mother"? Do you live in her home to see how she's raising her kids? Are you with them 24/7 to type such a malicious remark? Have you ever witnessed her mistreating either of her twins in the tabloids? And what makes her so weird? If you really think about it, Jennifer has mellowed out BIG time since marrying Marc. Marc is a private man and likes to keep his business to himself (like me, weâ??re both Virgoâ??s!). So I indicate that to state that because of his â??private waysâ??, sheâ??s mellowed out to a large degree. And thank goodness for that, because her dirty laundry, as we say, isnâ??t all over the newspapers and magazines like it used to be back in the day. I mean, good grief, if she sneezed, we were reading about it. And you donâ??t see an abundance of pictures of her in the tabloids these days like we used to when she was with P. Diddy and Ben Affleck, going here, there, attending this, that and the other function. Good grief, with Ben she was all over the place. I have to agree with Anon. Jennifer Lopez does seem like a whole other person since she has settled down with Marc Anthony and has had the twins. I think it's called growing up! There is nothing that will aid a person more in becoming a real human being more than a happy marriage (which takes work!) and having children. Both experiences pull you out of yourself which is a wonderful thing to have happen!
I used to not be able to stand Jennifer. Her ridiculous serial dating and public antics just got to me. I can honestly say that she seems like a totally different person since getting with Marc Anthony. Good for her!
I can't wait for Jennifer's new album coming out in 2010!
