The 41-year-old actor struggled with substance abuse in the past, checking into rehab for a prescription pill addiction in 1997 and again in 2001. Though Perry has not relapsed, he is "taking proactive measures" to ensure his sobriety.

He told the site in a statement: "I'm making plans to go away for a month to focus on my sobriety and to continue my life in recovery. Please enjoy making fun of me on the world wide web."

Having been clean and sober for years now, there are still days when "a cold one would'nt hurt', or maybe 'a night cap will help me sleep'. That is called 'stinking thinking' and leads to the demise of many sober living candidates. I can attest it is easier to fall than climb back up on your feet, but once your feet are planted firmly and you surround yourself with 'true friends' than sobriety has a good fighting chance. Matt know your limitations and realize chemicals can over whelm us much faster than we can create dilution of the product. We are a chemically addicted society and people. The best outcomes require a quick fix, but the most memorable are those a person derives the greatest memories, accomplishments and feats. You will beat it Matt. Sign me: A TRUE friend.
