Nick Lachey: How I Proposed to Vanessa Minnillo

After popping the question to Vanessa Minnillo back in November, Nick Lachey is finally sharing the details of what he calls his "best romantic effort" ever.

"You gotta take it in stages," the 37-year-old Sing Off host told Entertainment Tonight about his proposal. "If you set the bar too high then you set yourself up for failure."
"This was a carefully calculated plan," he continued. "You have to set the romance but you have to take it in phases. This was phase one."

Before presenting Minnillo, 30, with a $125,000 Asscher cut diamond ring, Lachey got down on both knees in what he jokingly refers to as the "full begging position."

Just don't expect to see the lovebirds exchanging vows in the near future: Minnillo recently told UsMagazine.com her guest-starring stints on Hawaii Five-O, CSI: New York, Psych and 30 Rock have made it nearly impossible to find a wedding dress.
"We're enjoying being engaged," the True Beauty host told Us. "Everyone rushes to the next step, and I like this step."
