Nick Lachey took his time proposing to gal pal of four years, Vanessa Minnillo, 30, but it looks like they may be racing down the altar.

On The Rachael Ray Show Wednesday, The Sing-Off host, 37, hinted that they may wed before the new year.

"We're going to be in Cincinnati with family, and hopefully having a white Christmas," said Lachey. "We're going to be in Tuscany for New Year's. Who knows, we may be married in Tuscany, too!"

Other than that, though, the singer admitted he's not that involved in wedding planning.

"I just basically told her, I said, 'Tell me where to be, when to be there and what to wear, and I'll be there,'" he said.

As for his ex Jessica Simpson, who announced her engagement to Eric Johnson in November -- just a week after Lachey's -- she's taking an equally low-key approach to her nuptials.

"I have not set a date and I can't even think about putting together table settings at the moment," Simpson, 30, recently told UsMagazine.com. "I'm just gonna enjoy the engagement and we'll get married the moment we feel like it."

Joanna--it's clear from your photo that you're quite unattractive yourself--you seem quite chubby. And Nick IS ugly--he looks like a caveman. As for Cincinnati, I've been there--it may have been a nice town at one time, but it's a damn ghetto these days in just about all the parts except for the wealthy neighborhoods. Congratulations that you think so highly of it; you must be better off. Otherwise, that town has nothing to offer unless you like living in a sewer.

I meant to say several hundred thousand instead of several thousand in my comment.

This is for the poster who said that Cincinnati is a "crap town and ugly." I know the name, but will refrain from giving her any credit!! I have lived in Cincinnati most of my life and raised my family there. Unless you were in the slums, which every town has, but not Palm Beach, you missed a lovely city with stately homes, new homes that are worth several thousand dollars or a regular middle class neighborhood. Have you been to Cincinnati? It is a town that sits by the water and has the arts, etc. available to us. Celebrities come regularly here to perform in various venues. We have gorgeous hotels and wonderful restaurants and annual events that happen every year that people attend. Also, I don't think Nick L. is ugly at all. He is a handsome man who has been criticized from a very unattractive woman.

It's a shame they won't both keep it low key. Let some young couples see that you don't have to spend 5 years income on a party that lasts a few hours. It's become obscene what people, everyday people, are spending or insisting their parent's spend for weddings these days. Everyone thinks they're Princess Di all of the sudden. I don't understand why these girls who make a tiny bit more than minimum wage think they should have the wedding they "dreamt of as a little girl". I had a lot of childish dreams, when I was 6 I was going to be an astronaut, when I was 8 I was going to be the first female president of our country....Doesn't mean those things came to be, they were childhood fantasys. There is only one important detail when planning your wedding, that you are marrying the man you want to spend the rest of your life with. I had the most marvelous wedding with around 100 guests. The tab was under a thousand dollars. With inflation it could be done for under two today. We got married at sunrise in a state park overlooking the ocean, the reception was breakfast prepared on campstoves by anyone who wanted to pitch in while we drank mimosas and strong black coffee and enjoyed the dawn of our new life together. It was the most perfect day of my life and 20 years later people still talk about how fun and unique it was.

Nick and Vanessa make up your minds you tell us one thing and the other

They are a cute couple and will last longer than Jessica will with her boy toy.

Wow, he sure is proud of being from "Cincinnati", isn't he? A crap town if ever there was one. I don't know what Vanessa sees in the ugly, big-nosed loser. She could do much better.

I also noticed the alter/altar error. Interesting. Well, glad they're getting married & I hope they will be happy. They seem like a sweet pair.

"Racing down the alter"? Really, US? You can't find literate writers? I suppose you mean "racing down the aisle" or "racing to the altAr." Sigh.

God, you are all some ugly people. I hope that they live happily ever after, after all they didnt go into it lightly, they dated enough yrs. I wish them the best, they make a beautiful couple.

If I were her, I'd keep all the gift receipts from the wedding presents, so she can return them all right after the divorce.

  • December 15, 2010 - 5:11pm Trinity Rose

And they may get a divorce before summer, these are facts!

US Weekly is so lame trying to make a story about of this. He was joking. Didn't you hear him say he's not into destination weddings? He's going to Utaly with 3 other couples. Vanessa will want a big announcement as to the date so she gets the attention she craves. I found it funny he said he has no idea where or what kind of wedding she wants. They never discussed it?
