After weeks of wearing her hair down on the red carpet, Reese Witherspoon switched up her style with an elegant updo for the L.A. premiere of her new film, Wild.

Looking slim and radiant in a strapless Zac Posen dress and Harry Winston jewelry, Witherspoon, 38, rocked a ’60s-inspired bun, courtesy of celeb hairstylist Adir Abergel. “The look was modern yet classic and accented with a simple chic bun in the back,” he tells Us Weekly.

To begin, Abergel, who also works with Anne Hathaway and Jennifer Lawrence, made a very deep side part on towel-dried hair and applied John Frieda Frizz Ease Nourishing Oil Elixir for shine and workability. For volume, he rubbed John Frieda Luxurious Volume Root Booster Blow Dry Lotion to the roots through the mid-shaft.

While blow-drying the hair with a round brush, Abergel concentrated on the bangs, making sure to sweep them to the side for a mod look. “Once the hair was dry, I took a fine tooth comb and teased the crown, making sure to smooth it with a paddle brush,” he tells Us. “When I was happy with the shape achieved, I sprayed it with John Frieda Luxurious Volume All Day Hold Hairspray.”

To lock in shine — and stave off flyaways, he rubbed a dime-size amount of John Frieda Frizz Ease Secret Weapon Touch-Up Creme in his palms and ran through her hair.

To create the chignon, Abergel pulled the hair into a low ponytail about four inches about the nape of the neck and secured it with an elastic. He twisted the hair into an S-shape and pinned it in place, before finishing with John Frieda Luxurious Volume All Day Hairspray.

Says Abergel, “The style of this bun brings in the classic element.”
