Shay Mitchell, who's the new face of Carmex MoisturePlus, dishes on her most delicious beauty secret: coconut oil.

Shay Mitchell has all kinds of fabulous secrets to share!

Not only is the Pretty Little Liars star, 27, sharing her beauty tricks (she’s the new face of Carmex MoisturePlus lip balm, after all); she’s also dishing on her hit series’ upcoming Halloween and Christmas specials, too!

“Because I wear so much makeup, especially lipstick, on the show, my lips are always chapped,” Mitchell tells Us Weekly. “So when I come home, it’s nice to take all of that off and go back to basics. I put on Carmex before I got to sleep, and when I wake up, I’m all set to go. There’s nothing worse than chapped lips!”

Agreed! And that’s not her only beauty secret: When asked how the actress keeps her gorgeous ombre locks, often curled into perfect waves for PLL, in tip-top shape, Mitchell had a surprising must-have: coconut oil.

“I always travel with coconut oil. I use it on my hair, or as a cleanser. It’s a secret my mom taught me,” Mitchell, who just relaunched her fashion and lifestyle blog, Amore & Vita, revealed. “She always used it growing up in the Philippines, and she still has amazing, beautiful hair, so she must have done something right!”

But of course, we couldn’t let the Canadian beauty go without discussing the upcoming PLL Halloween and Christmas specials! In lieu of a traditional Halloween episode this year, Mitchell, alongside costars Lucy Hale, Ashley Benson, and Troian Bellisario, will spend an hour answering fans’ most burning questions.

“It’s just me and the girls, sitting around the fireplace all cozy, answering all of your questions,” Mitchell explained about the TV event, airing on Oct. 21. “And then we have characters from the past, brought back from the dead to answer questions, too!” (Like Dancing With the StarsJanel Parish, we hope? R.I.P. Mona!)

That might disappoint the fans who have loved seeing the ladies’ costumes each year. (Remember when Mitchell’s Emily dressed as Barbarella?) Still, they needn’t worry, because as Us Weekly reported on Sept. 30, Mitchell and the gang are dressing up for a school dance in icy blue formal dresses, looks chosen with care by costume designer Mandi Line.

“Mandi’s so good at picking dresses that suit each of our characters, plus a little influence from all of us I’m sure. Because I know when i walked into the fitting for that outfit, I just went straight for the sequins! And that’s what I ended up wearing,” the former model told Us. “The show wouldn’t be what it is without her.”

So what juicy secrets should we be looking to solve in the yuletide episode? “Pay special attention to the fact that it was 120 degrees when we were shooting outside, with sweaters, hats, and mittens on! See if you can tell,” she laughed, keeping mum as the Liars cast and producers always do. But she did say she believes this episode will be a fun one. “You’ve never seen the girls around Christmas time before. It’s kind of special to see them in a different light, celebrating an amazing holiday.”
