Six months after Teen Mom 2's Leah Messer wed Corey Simms, the 18-year-old mother of two has filed for divorce, Us Weekly has confirmed.
Though the MTV star filed papers in Kanawha County between April 8 and 15, fans of the show shouldn't be too surprised to see the two split. "Everything Corey and I have done has happened so fast," Messer recently told Us.

After all, the pair dated for one month, found out they were expecting, split up just after the 2009 birth of their twin daughters, then reunited six months later. From there, it took just weeks for them to move into together and for 20-year-old Simms, a certified water-distribution operator, to propose.

"I didn't want to jump into something else and be like, 'Oh, s**t! What did we do?'" Messer told Us. "Three years ago, back before I was pregnant, I never thought I'd be married now. I was scared because a lot of people who marry young end up divorcing within a year."
After all, Messer had seen it happen within her own family. "My mom and dad married, divorced, remarried and divorced again," she said. "I don't want my girls [Aliannah and Aleeah, 16 months] to go through that. My mom talked to me because she wed at 16 and didn't want me to go through a divorce like she did."

Despite the divorce proceedings, friends of the couple hope to see the newlyweds reconcile.
"They are not in a good place right now," a source tells Us. "Their friends are hoping they find a way to make it work."

Tell Us What You Think
60Wow. What a world we live in. When I was a kid I never even thought about having sex or getting married. Most of the people here are 20 and been married eight or ten years. That means when you were barely ten you already knew you wanted to get married and have alot of kids. If you do all of this what do you have to look forward too because you already did it all . No fun. I enjoyed being a kid. I have kids but I had all my fun and dating at the right time . Someone was said they liked men while they were still in their mother.
No one should ever stay together "for the kids" that's like the worst reason. Would you really put children through the constant fighting of two people who don't want to be together? Then what do you tell the kids when they're older.. we stayed together for you? Poor kids. I've known my husband since we were 9 we didn't start "dating" until I was 18, and we got married before I turned 23. We've been together for over 8 1/2 years married for over 4 1/2 of them & we recently had a daughter. Divorce isn't an option for US but that's US. No one should ever be forced to stay together for the kids. Marriage is hard work, but we're BOTH willing to work on it every day.
But the thing is that they never should've moved in together!! Nothin kils a relationship faster than movin in together b4 marriage. And plus I think that Corey needs to forget about her and he can find another girl that will love him.
I watch this show all the time when it came on.. and leah and corey looked so in love.. I mean seriously.. they have 2 CHILDREN! and should be together for them.. and not have corey go screw around like he thinks he should and get another family involved.. thats just not right.. I cant believe that this happend to leah... she has worked hard for the girls and him.. and what does he want.. to not just keep his you know what in his pants and get another girl prego.. thats very retarted.. I cant believe this.. =[ Leah I am soo sorry you had to go through all that.. I mean gosh its hard taking care of 2 babies.. and your alone.. thats so crazyyyyyy.. =[ but anyways thats all I got to say..
I hope they work it out. And for all of those saying "Marriage is hard work" get over yourselves. Of course marriage is hard work, but that doesnt mean people have to live miserably for the rest of their lives! I dont "believe" in divorce but who am I to judge those who do divorce. And keep in mind that Leah has TWINS! One of which is "special needs" I cant even begin to imagine how much she has to deal w/ in her day to day life. So what may seem like "Stupid little problems" to some of us, may just be the straw that broke the camels back in her case. Anyhow, I wish these two the best
Immature!!!! Marriage is hard work you just don't give up and throw up your hands after ONLY 6 months! They both need to grow up and FAST they have too kids so they need to put all the high school drama behind them...Leah is such a little fame w**** anyway, she was LOVING it when she got married on MTV and I bet she will LOVE acting like the victim on MTV crying it up while they flim her going thru the divorce, makes me sick really....I was a teen mom at 18, got pregnant at 17 and my husband and I have been together for 10 years and it has not been easy, marriage is hard but you make it work, and we have!
I love the show and all you people thats saying its a wreck sdfu, because its showing how difficult being a teen mom is. You really don't have to be a teen age mother to have struggles in life because i know people thats in their 20's being a mother and it is hard for them. oan. i do hope leah and corey can work things out but not just for themselves for the babies too, because when their parents are not together than it wont just b hard for their parents its hard for them too because they dont have one of their parents around like they are suppose to be! and Martecia sdfu !!!!, DUH they're acting like grown-ups because they cant act like kids while taking care of a baby, and NO they're not getting pregnant just to be on the show ! they just made the wrong choice at the wrong time!
o my i fill so bad for those girls! and i hope leah fights for those kids because i don't no how you all where riased but if a man hits a woman that would be the last time he would see me or my kids. And for corey i hope you reconize what you just did! Leah could do better "Go Leah"! Corey i didn't think that you would ever lay a hand on leah or any woman:( i hope that leah go's and fight's for thoughs kids! Good luck leah!!!
They were my fav. and they are so cute together. I really do hope they can make it work.
FAKE FAKE FAKE FAKE....THESE RUMORS ARE ALL FAKE. Do not belive everything magazines tell you.
I was tearing up when he saw her walking down the isle and was crying himself. My husband did that at our wedding. See, i think they had the foundation to build upon a successful relationship, I just think that people nowadays give up too easily. Marriage is hard work, there are days when you don't even what to look at your spouse, but you're supposed to be in it together, and I think almost anyone can make it work if they really do love each other. Regardless, my hearts with you Corey, you look like you really love her. Keep your head up.
i hope 456u guys stay together u too r soo cute together and u both have to beautiful girls u r my favorite ones of teen mom 2 wish u guys the best of luck and have fun. from kayla from idaho
Leah & Corey I hope you are both ok; You make a cute couple. I hope it's not true and it's really none of our business but make your girls your priority, treat each other fairly and maybe you'll get back together later. It's kinda a young age to commit yourself; people did in the "old" days but the world is a totally different place now! Good luck; and hopefully the reporters will just leave you alone!!
I just want to let all you people who say people shouldnt get married at 18 and have a child. Im livin proof it can work I love my son and my husband. Granted we do have are times but noone is perfect. and for the ones who said teenagers shouldnt be havin kids you dont know what they were thinkin or the circumstance they were in. Im a teen mom to a preemie (thats one of the hardest things you can go through being 1 to 1 1/2 hours away from your son while hes in the nicu not knowin if hes goin to make it)he did and I would not trade him for the world. I mean look at the old days people got married young and had kids young they stayed together. Im sure the ones who said people should not get married or have kids young their parents got married young and had them young. So i have a question for all you against teen pregnancy and marrige would you go back in time and tell your parents/grandparents the samething and if they would have listen do you think you would be here now and havin the life you ave? I DONT THINK SO!!! EVERYTHING HAPPENS FOR A REASON.
I watch the show and love it ,I feel like it really shows the real life struggles not only of being teen parents but economy things like rent , gas and food the way real people have to work to pay for basic things needed. I truly love this show
she was way to high strung to make something like a marrage work. thts why it didnt work... if she felt like she didnt want to do it or wanted to waut and push the date back then thats what she should of done.. never let man make a dission sooo big cause end the end they only lokk at right now not what could happen in the next year...
I got married at 18, knew my husband for 10 years, we had our first child 4wks ago. It doesnt matter what age you are when you get married you just have to have a good relationship and communication skills. We couldnt be happier!
My 14 yr old daughter and I watch this show together and it is a blessing. Nothing proves it more than this show how NOT to be a teenage parent. We discuss each episode and she see's how having sex at such a young age is wrong. None of these kids were/are prepared for the ramifications of sexual relationships at such a young age. They are ill-prepared to deal with the fallout and lack the maturity to be parents. Catelyn and Tyler showed the most maturity by realizing they were to young and gave their child a future with a loving couple who could provide the necessary care needed.
This is why 18 yr olds shouldn't be allowed to marry.
People like this @Martecia chick really piss me off. So what if you don't like the show? No one cares. The point of this show has been clearly shown and talked about, over and over. No one is trying to "glam up" the whole teenage pregnancy. It's to show how HARD it is, and to encourage teenagers to take precautions when it comes to sex. I'm sad to see that these two couldn't work. I had hoped that maybe it would be the 2 in 10 relationships that last past having a child as a teenager.
