Here's a twist: just days after New York congressman Anthony Weiner admitted to lying about posting provocative photos on Twitter, The New York Times has learned his wife, Huma Abedin, is pregnant with their first child.
According to three insiders, Abedin, 35, is in the early stages of pregnancy; the couple has reportedly shared the news with close friends and family.
Weiner, 46, previously admitted to engaging in X-rated internet conversations with at least six women over the last three years. During an emotional Monday press conference, he apologized to his wife and said they have no intention of splitting up.
"We will weather this," he told reporters. "I love her very much, and she loves me."
Abedin, a longtime aide to Hillary Rodham Clinton, has remained silent throughout her husband's scandal. On Wednesday, she and Clinton, 63, left for a business trip in Northern Africa.
