Bristol Palin "Cried Like a Little Baby" After Tripp's First Laugh
Bristol Palin loves being a mom to her son Tripp, 16 months.
"His first laugh, I cried like a little baby," Palin, 19, told UsMagazine.com at Wednesday's 6th Annual Event to Prevent at Cipriani's in NYC. "I was just so happy." The daughter to former Alaska governor Sarah Palin says those kinds of milestones are "awesome" and "amazing."
Little Tripp, she added, is now "walking" and "learned how to go downstairs recently."
Palin, a Candie's Foundation ambassador, was less cheerful when asked about Tripp's dad Levi Johnston, her former fiance. "I'm a single parent," she quipped. "I've said that a million times and I'll say it a dozen more times...I'm a single mom just like 8 out of 10 teen moms."
In February, an Alaska judge ruled that Johnston, 19, pay $18,500 in back child support for Tripp and $1688.42 per month going forward.
Attendees at Wednesday's Event to Prevent gala also included stars of MTV's Teen Mom, Maci Bookout and Farrah Abraham ("I'm trying my hardest to watch the latest episodes," Palin said of the show.) "There's a connection between all of us," she said, "because we do share that bond of being a mom."
Earlier this year, Palin vowed to Oprah Winfrey that she won't have sex again until she weds. "I just think it's a goal to have, and I think other young women should have that goal," she said.
"I am very proud of Bristol!" Sarah Palin told reporters at Tuesday's NYC gala for Time's 100 Most Influential People. "To take responsibility, and to be quite independent and strong, and know that she's no longer living her life for herself, but for another human being -- I'm very proud of the discipline she's shown," the former Republican Vice Presidential nominee said.
