Sure, a fancy stroller would be nice, but parents-to-be Catherine and Sean Lowe know what’s really important when it comes to caring for a newborn. “We know we need some strong swaddles, so that’s a biggie on our registry,” Catherine, who is due this summer, tells Us Weekly. “We are going to do our best to keep the baby from crying!”
Also on the expecting couple’s list: a soothing mobile to lull their little one to sleep — and bottles upon bottles of Dreft Newborn Liquid Detergent.
“My parents used it when I was a baby and so many of our friends recommended it; it’s already a staple,” Catherine tells Us. “We love taking the items we’ve washed with Dreft out of the dryer and giving them a little sniff. The scent makes us so excited for our baby’s arrival.”
While the pair wait for their bundle of joy (they are not learning the sex), they are relishing their time as a party of two. “I find myself being more attentive to Catherine’s needs,” says Sean. “When she needs a snack or water, I run to the store around the corner and pick it up for her, or when she needs a shoulder massage, I don’t hesitate to give her one. It feels good to care for my wife and make sure her needs are taken care of.”
Catherine isn’t letting pregnancy slow her down, though. “Catherine has only become busier since being pregnant,” Sean shares. “She’s started two companies, and I often find myself reminding her to rest from time to time. She is so driven and focused that I think she sometimes forgets she’s pregnant. But I know she’ll use that same drive and focus to be the best mom she can possibly be once the baby arrives.”
Catherine has similarly high expectations for Lowe as a father. “He is the most loving and wonderful daddy to our doggies, and I know it will be exponentially better when it’s our own child,” she says, noting that his parents are role models for them.
Sean agrees. “I’m most looking forward to the challenge of being as good of a father as my dad was, and still is, to me,” he tells Us. “Over the years, my dad has proven time and time again that he will support me and be there for me no matter what … That’s what I want to give my child as well. I want them to know that their dad will always be their biggest supporter.”
Catherine and Sean, who tied the knot on a televised wedding special in January 2014, announced on December 8, 2015 that they were expecting their first child. “It’s happening!” Lowe captioned an Instagram shot of himself and his wife’s stomach. “I’m going to be a dad!”
