Celine Dion's Husband: "We Were Crying" When Twins Were Born

Celine Dion and husband Rene Angelil still haven't revealed the names of their twin boys born on Saturday. But proud papa Angelil, 68, opened up about the early, emotional arrival of the babies in an interview with Canadian TV show etalk airing on Monday and Tuesday.
"We have tried five times since March 2009 to conceive. It's very hard," he said of their well-known struggle to conceive. (Dion, 42, even suffered a miscarriage in 2009.)
"So when Saturday at 11:11 came, and they showed us the first baby that was crying, we were crying," he confessed.

"It was a very emotional moment," he continued, "and even though we didn't speak to each other, we were both thinking about the time it took. We are very lucky, very privileged and very fortunate to have these boys."
What do the little boys look like so far? "They do look alike," Angelil said. "But maybe they won’t look alike in a few months -- because they are not identical twins."

The little boys also have an ecstatic older brother in their son Rene-Charles, 9. "He was very, very happy that it was boys," Angelil said. "I remember a few months ago when his mom told him the day we would find out the sex of the baby, his reaction pointing to his mom’s belly was 'I hope there's not too many girls in there.'"

Dion is expected to begin rehearsing for her new Las Vegas show in mid-January. "It gives her three months to recoup, and she thinks she can do it," Angelil said.

Congrats to both Celine and Rene! I can only imagine how ecstatic you must be. As for the people on here saying "He's too old," or "You should have just adopted," and "It's selfish," maybe you should take a step back and think about what you just said. If Rene really didn't want to have more kids and they thought he was too old, they could have turned around and said "Let's adopt." But unless you have been in the situation where your only desire is to have another child with the man you love and you struggle to get pregnant, take the time to think about posting a tasteful comment. My husband and I got pregnant easily, but many of our friends had to jump through hoops just to have one baby. It's hard to give up on the dream of having your own children and that's the best kind of selfish I know of.
@Jenny Ryan...You don't SOUND like you're younger than Celine Dion. You sound like an old busy-body. A lonely old spinster who is jealous that a 42 year old woman might want more children and might actually be capable of it. What's wrong? Is your dried up old womb incapable of sustaining life? Maybe if you were a nicer person, you would have a happier life. And if CD wants to have children with her 68 yr old husband who the HELL are YOU to complain? At least CD HAS a husband who loves her and want to have babies with her, unlike you who I am sure by your attitude and demeaner must be a single, lonely, miserable harpy!
Congradulations! To Dion and Renee I am truly happy for both of you and little Rene. I was recently thinking about you because I know how important it is for you to have another baby. Little did I know that you were having twins. Be bless and enjoy your bundles of joy. Because truly you have brought a lot of joy and happiness to a lot of people through your beautiful music as well as your special love that you have for your husband.
@Jenny Ryan, what is wrong with you? why are you so selfish and callous to make such comments about this couples...I can perceive it, you have no children at all, and even though you calm you do, i bet, there are not yours, you adopted them...Learn to live with it, those couples are excelling for good..And all you haters should have repentance heart on the second thought. jeez........

Incredibly selfish. Of course the babies are a blessing, etc. but this is an incredibly narcissistic move on Dion's part. I am sure her husband is just accommodating her. Why not just foster some kids, donate your time to Big Brothers/Sisters, etc someone who could really use the help? Good grief! Dude'll be dead or 3/4 of the way there before the kids are 21. No, that's not selfish or anything!

No she isn't Genna Davis had all her kids while older than Celine as in her daughter at 46 and her twin sons at 48 so are you saying she should have aborted the children. age is nothing but a number people live longer now than they ever have before. and stars have always had nannies help out especially when their working get over it.
These beautiful little souls were born for a reason and it is wonderful for them! I am happy for them all. However, I personally believe that Celine is WAY to old to be a "new" mom. And think about it, Rene, with all due respect, is going to be 78 when his children are only 10 years old. Seems a bit unfair to them. No daddy to go out and play with etc. He'll be very close to 80 years old. Come on. I know she will have lots of nannies to help with these new precious gems but, trust me, nannies can NEVER and will never make up for having mom and dad there. Mom will be doing her show all the time and dad is too old.I just sincerly hope that these two thought about all of this before having TWINS! Sure they will have a good life but at what cost?

I am so happy for both of them. As for you Jenny Ryan, What is so selfish about wanting more kids. They can afford them. Age is just a number. They are happy and everyone should just leave them alone. All you haters really need to get over it.
@jenny, i get that there is a HUGE age difference, but it isn't like they just got together. they've been together for 20ish years. is it selfish for a nearly 70 year old to become a father, maybe, but i have a feeling that they will be great parents!
These two are unbelievable........unbelievably selfish. A 68-year-old man fathering a baby is such self-indulgent foolishness. Whenever I read about Celine Dion, I get so creeped out when I consider the fact that this woman is YOUNGER than me and her husband is OLDER than my own father.....Only celebrities live in this kind of la la land.
OMG. Her concerts are all of a couple hours. You think "their" Daddy can manage the babies while she sings a few songs. I had no idea working Mothers aren't grateful for their families. Geesh.
