Denise Richards is way more than just your average babysitter. 4-year-old twins Bob and Max Sheen are now staying with the actress after the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services removed them from the home of their trouble mother, Brooke Mueller, sources confirm to Us Weekly. Both women are ex-wives to Charlie Sheen, and Richards, 42, has similarly helped out in the past.
"They've been under her care may times before," a source explains to Us. Both Mueller, 35, and Sheen, 47, have struggled with drug and alcohol abuse (and legal trouble) over the years, and authorities recently deemed Mueller's home an "unsafe environment" for the boys. "This isn't unusual," the source explains of the latest situation. "Truthfully, Denise and [her daughters] are the only consistency those poor kids have had."
Richards, who has spoken of her commitment to helping out Sheen and Mueller before, "loves" the boys "and would never say no," the source says. "She would raise 1,000 kids if she could. It's not in her nature to turn away someone in need." Richards is mom to daughters Sam, 9, and Lola, 7, with Sheen, and adopted daughter, Eloise, 22 months. "The girls consider the twins their siblings," the insider adds. "This is their family and Denise would do anything for them."
Adds another source: "Everyone agrees that that was the best decision. Denise is a phenomenal mother and she loves those boys like her own."
Sheen, meanwhile, is "truly grateful that [Denise] is here for the kids," the first source adds.
