Derick Dillard shared a sweet letter he wrote to his baby son Israel David while Jill Duggar was still pregnant

You've got mail, baby Israel! Jill Duggar and Derick Dillard's newborn son is still years away from being able to read, but he'll have plenty of material whenever that milestone comes to pass. As revealed by the Duggar family on Thursday, April 16, proud dad Dillard started writing to his little boy while Jill, 23, was still pregnant.

"Before our grandson Israel was born, Derick wrote this beautiful letter to him," Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar wrote on their official Facebook page, adding a link to the Dillards' website.

The letter begins with a verse from the Bible, Isaiah 44:21-28, which includes a mention of Israel's namesake: "Remember these things, O Jacob, and Israel, for you are my servant; I formed you; you are my servant; O Israel, you will not be forgotten by me."

The Duggars are known for sharing scriptures on social media, but as Dillard, 26, explained in his note, this verse is particularly significant.

"To Israel, my firstborn son," he wrote. "I read these verses in my time with the Lord this morning, and I wanted to pen them specifically for you. Just as the Lord spoke of the nation of Israel, I pray He would accomplish in you. I pray that you, Israel, whom I already love more than anybody, except mom of course J, would turn to the Lord early in your life and glorify Him with all that is within you."

He continued: "Though we are still waiting on your physical birth, I want you to know that mom and I are already praying for your spiritual birth. The world has not met you yet, but the Lord our God already knows everything about you and who you will be. After all, He is forming you as we speak! How awesome is our God, the God of Israel!"

Dillard went on to share some of his thoughts about his wife's pregnancy. "It is so neat to have felt you kicking, punching, and turning inside of mom for months now," he wrote. "Even if it doesn't always feel the best for mom, I know the joy you bring makes it up for her."

To close, Dillard shared his hopes for his baby boy, writing, "I pray that you will continue to grow, in stature, in knowledge, and in wisdom, true wisdom, that is from the Lord. And know that I love you son and I always will, no matter what. I will say it again… I love you Israel!"

As previously reported, 19 Kids and Counting star Jill gave birth on Monday, April 6, at 11:49 p.m. "We are so thankful for a healthy Mom and baby!" Jim Bob and Michelle wrote on Facebook. "Love this sweet baby Israel! We are happy grandparents and we promise more pictures soon!"
