Edie Falco doesn't go overboard shopping for her children, Anderson and Macy.
"It's hard to justify spending a lot of money on kid's clothes because they grow out of them in five minutes," Falco, 47, tells UsMagazine.com. "And my kids don't really care what they wear."

"So I occasionally buy something for my son and he wears it until he grows out of it, and my daughter wears it," the Nurse Jackie star goes on. "I just make sure that it's unisex."

Falco, who adopted her Anderson in March 2005 and Macy in April 2008, says she asks her 94-year-old grandmother for parenting advice.
"[She] raised five kids who back in the day was doing everything. Grandpa was out making the money, and grandma was feeding one kid with her hand and rocking another kid in the cradle with her foot," says Falco.
The biggest lesson?
"She would explain to me about patience. It's about teaching yourself to be patient. We all move at a pace and get used to it. And then you're with kids who have their own schedule and own time frame. Part of me wants to just say 'C'mon let's go.' But they're not having it."
"You can come to loggerheads if you don't learn how to breathe and learn how to let them take the time they need. You have to let them be sometimes -- to let them look at a book to let them brush their teeth," adds the Emmy winner.

Tell Us What You Think
6I think she sounds like a great mother! Those pampered princesses who are brought up with make-up and manicures when they are 8 years old are the problem, not a mother raising her kids not to worry about their appearance too much. And wearing unisex clothes doesn't make you need therapy, dumbasses. If gender identity is so fragile that you need to have it forced on you, then it can't really be that natural, right?
Yeah, I always hated to see my brother having to wear my panties when my mom bought unisex clothes. You know you can save money by buying less expensive clothes, but DAMN, at least buy the clothes for the child's gender! Sheesh! What a way to start their path toward therapy.
She probably drives around in expensive cars and lives in an expensive house, but makes her kids wear unisex clothes to save money. How ridiculous. I highly doubt she is hurting for money.
Very good point! I always think about how to safe money when buying kids clothes. They don't need designer things and they grow to fast out of it. It's crazy. But I found something that works to get new and cheap kid's clothes: bartering. I tried barterquest and it really works and is so easy. I can recommend it for all parents because it's a way to safe money and if the kids grow out of their stuff you can just barter them again for other goods or even services.
moni.. agreed!
Good to know there is someone out there in the entertainment world who is down 2 earth & isn't putting emphasis on material items. This may also be the solution 4 Angelina Jolie & her kids. Just sayin.
