Proud new father! Emile Hirsch has kept quiet since a source confirmed to Us Weekly earlier this month that he welcomed his first child, but the 28-year-old actor is finally speaking out about his baby boy Valor. At the Lone Survivor premiere at AFI Fest 2013 in Hollywood on Tuesday, Nov. 12, Hirsch opened up to Us about how happy he is to be a dad.

"I have always wanted a kid," he said. "So I am thrilled. Overjoyed!"

The New York Daily News first reported on Oct. 2 that the Into the Wild actor was expecting a baby with an as-yet-unidentified Florida woman with whom he had a fling. On Nov. 2, Hirsch was photographed cradling his adorable newborn son on his chest.

How's baby Valor doing now?

"Cutest," Hirsch told Us. "Cute as cute can be."

Though the Daily News reported that Hirsch and the mother of his son are not dating, a source told Us that the actor is "doing the right thing and will be taking care of her and his baby financially."

An insider also added: "He's trying to be a good guy in the situation. He still has love for the girl -- it's just his schedule and life did not fit in with having a relationship."
