Experts: There's Nothing Wrong With the Way Shiloh Dresses

On Jan. 16, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt's daughter Shiloh, 3, was spotted wearing a tie and bowler hat in Los Angeles -- and many bloggers expressed outrage over the girl's tomboy style. ("Do Brad & Angelina Want To Turn Shiloh Into A Boy?" one headline read.)
But sources tell UsMagazine.com that the girl normally picks out her own clothes -- and experts say there's nothing wrong with that. "It's quite healthy, as she is learning to make choices and think independently," says Manhattan psychotherapist Jonathan Alpert, who writes a column in Metro newspaper called "No More Drama."

Alpert tells Us Shiloh could get "picked on" by her peers because of her duds.

Psychotherapist Carol Tuttle, author of Dressing Your Truth-Real Beauty for Real Women, tells Us the fact that Pitt and Jolie allow Shiloh to choose her clothes "is a very healthy activity for a little 3-year-old girl."
Two years ago, Pitt gushed that his daughter is unique.

373I've been paying close attention to Shilo since they first started posting pictures of her. She was wearing boys clothes long before she could dress herself. (Funny how the public doesn't remember that). Brad Pitt made a statement years ago, (and the public probably doesn't remember that either), "We wouldn't care if one of our kids was gay, as long as they were happy. That's all fine and dandy, but I'm inclined to believe Shilo's clothing isn't her choice, but the choice of a mother who has a gay brother, and maybe a little too (politically pro gay). Let's wait till Shilo is twelve and we'll all know a little better which way she'll swing. When I was six, I was a little on the butch side and could kick the ass of any seven year old boy! I'm not so butch now!!
Shilohs middle name Nouvel means new boy. She was dressed in a boys grey shirt with pots and pans and skulls, with Kingsley written on it along with blue pants for her 1st ever publicly released baby pictures just shy of a month old. Angie maybe declaring its cool to dress her Daughter Shiloh as its cool to bt the girl with the tomboy look and that girls are equal to boys in the way they can dress or act. I think pots and pans was Shilohs biggest fashion statement. It's possible Angie came up with the middle name Nouvel for Shiloh.

cont'd. When the twins were Shilo's age I allowed them to pick out what they wanted to wear because I believe everyone is an individual. Of course, if the child is going to a wedding, your'e not going to allow the child to wear underwear on it's head, but a hat of their choice would be ok. Live & let live. Life is short...
Angelina= great mother. I am the mother of twins & another daughter (3 girls). My twins are identical and I dressed them alike whaen they were babies. Myself, an artist believe that a child should be able to make their own choices in expressing their creativity. Leave them alone. Find a way to express your own creativity rather than in a way of judging others in what they choose to do. Tha's trashy creativity.

Shiloh is just 3 years old. She isn't choosing anything. Her parents are choosing for her. Angelina and Brad are insane, they shouldn't change her name for ¨John¨. Too much. Some of you people are just proof of how ignorant, stupid, and plain pompus the human race is compared to the rest of the animals living on this planet. This is NOT 1955 and children should be permitted to express themselves how ever they want, my mother dressed like this and even wore a davy crocket hat up until she was 10, and it didn't mean she wanted to be a boy, it just meant she wanted to have fun...It is time we stop generalizing individuals based on their gender, as it is just as repulsive and ignorant to make a judgment on how some one should act based on gender as it is to do so based on race. Maybe Shiloh is Trans or maybe she isnt, either way what does it matter??? Shiloh regardless of who she is in the future is at least loved for who she is, and that is the best gift anyone can give their child, because that is what she is to them, their child and any good loving parent would except their kids for who they are. That baby is gorgeous! Some of the most beautiul women in the world grew up as tom boys.. Plus we have seen her in dresses with her baby doll. Let her have fun..

if shiloh decided to dress like a boy when she's a teenager did end up identifying with the male gender as some people suggest and angelina was accepting, i have to admit i'm not a fan of hers, but i would just have the deepest respect for her, that takes a mother's true love and acceptance. but for now she's a toddler, she's probably missing out on seeing her mom a lot and is just really attached to her dad, she should spend more time with her and try to guide her more. and if she still wants to dress like a boy, she should by her better boy clothes not the stuff she wears now. she's just too adorable of a girl not to be shown looking her best.
Are you serious?? So what if she wants to wear comfortable clothes...she is a little girl! Not every little girl likes pink and dresses...geesh! Now the only issue I have with the Pitts is the fact that they need to find someone who can do the other girl's hair because I am sick of seeing that child's hair look like that! If you don't know how to do her hair...find someone who can or take her to a natural hair salon and let them braid her hair!! Hell I'll do it!
i really care less about the "tomboy/gender-role" issue, she's 2, she's really not thinking about that stuff. i think angelina should treat all her children the same, either dress them ALL good, or ALL badly. shiloh never has her hair done and her clothes don't look clean. if she insists on dressing her like a boy, then she should still have nice boy clothes like her brothers do. don't out her by putting those rags on her. that's her daughter, she obviously spares the expense for her boys and zahara. why not for shiloh? i think that if shiloh is truly wanting to dress like a boy (i'm not sure if i buy this whole "source" who CLAIMS it's the truth) it's probably because she doesn't spend enough time with her mom and must be a lot closer to her dad. this should be telling angelina something if she's completely repressing her feminine side and is going as far as wanting to be called "john." as far as people saying she is identifying with the male gender, she's 2, she'll make HER OWN decision about that when she's old enough to understand
