On Jan. 16, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt's daughter Shiloh, 3, was spotted wearing a tie and bowler hat in Los Angeles -- and many bloggers expressed outrage over the girl's tomboy style. ("Do Brad & Angelina Want To Turn Shiloh Into A Boy?" one headline read.)

But sources tell UsMagazine.com that the girl normally picks out her own clothes -- and experts say there's nothing wrong with that. "It's quite healthy, as she is learning to make choices and think independently," says Manhattan psychotherapist Jonathan Alpert, who writes a column in Metro newspaper called "No More Drama."

Alpert tells Us Shiloh could get "picked on" by her peers because of her duds.

But so could any other kid.

Psychotherapist Carol Tuttle, author of Dressing Your Truth-Real Beauty for Real Women, tells Us the fact that Pitt and Jolie allow Shiloh to choose her clothes "is a very healthy activity for a little 3-year-old girl."

Two years ago, Pitt gushed that his daughter is unique.

"She only wants to be called John. John or Peter. So it's a Peter Pan thing," he told Oprah Winfrey. "So we've got to call her John. 'Shi, do you want ...' – 'John. I'm John.' And then I'll say, 'John, would you like some orange juice?' And she goes, 'No!' So, you know, it's just that kind of stuff that's cute to parents, and it's probably really obnoxious to other people."
