In a few months, Jenna Wolfe and girlfriend Stephanie Gosk will be the proud parents of a newborn baby girl. But for now, they're living like college students and bunking in a friend's spare bedroom.
The pregnant TODAY show correspondent and her partner recently moved out of their small New York City apartment, Wolfe revealed on her blog, Jenna's (Baby) Food for Thought. They have another, bigger place all lined up, but they can't officially set up house until later this month.
"This baby hasn't even reared her beautiful little face yet, and she's already making demands about where we live," the mom-to-be wrote on Wednesday, May 8. "(Baby: Yeah, I'm going to need my own room.)"
Wolfe documented the entire May 7 moving-day experience in great detail, from 5 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. Midway through, she took a break to attend the T.J. Martell Foundation's Women of Influence Awards Luncheon at Riverpark in New York City, where she revealed that she's too big for most of her clothes now and is coping with back pain, fatigue, and heartburn. "It comes with the territory," she quipped to Us Weekly at the event. "But it's an adventure!"
After the lunchtime engagement, she returned to packing up her life. "So we're officially out of the old apartment, but while we wait to move into the new one (Read: High Maintenance Baby can't breathe in fumes while place is being painted), we're bunking with my friend Marcy, who is kind enough to let two TV gals (and the 275 bags we apparently need for the week we're staying here) take up shop in her second bedroom," she said.
"It's like college all over again -- me, Steph, Marcy, Marcy's boyfriend, Marcy's hilarious cousin, and just about everyone else who wants to stop by," she joked. "Marcy is the Jerry Seinfeld of the neighborhood...So this next week, while slightly nomadic for us, will be a deliriously fun pre-cursor to our move into our grown-up apartment next week."
Wolfe also blogged recently about feeling her baby girl kick for the first time. "We nearly melted. It was single-handedly the coolest thing that's ever happened to us," she wrote on Apr. 24. "There's a little person inside of me trying to tell me things...things like, 'No more spicy food, please' and 'Only four and a half more months until we meet' and 'Just deal with the back pain, Mom, it's the least of the pain I'm going to cause you."
"Suddenly, and for the first time, it's not all about me. There's a little fireball in m'belly who is totally dependent on me and my food choices and my lifestyle and where I go and what I do," the first-time expectant mother added. "I am completely responsible for her until the day she is born. (And then every single day after that...but let's not get ahead of ourselves.) It's an incredible responsibility, but one that I welcome."
