Baby makes three! Jill Duggar and her husband Derick Dillard shared a sweet family video with their newborn baby on Tuesday, April 7.
The newly minted parents took footage from Duggar's hospital bed, where they can be seen cuddling up to their son Israel David. The tiny tot was born on Monday, April 6, at 11:49pm.
Wrapping his arm around his wife as he reclines on the bed, Derick, 26, opens the video. "Hey everybody, it's Derick and Jill Dillard, and we've got an exciting birth announcement," he begins.
"We're so excited to announce the birth of our son, Israel David Dillard," the glowing new mother, 23, chimed in, holding her first child in her arms. "He weighs a whopping 9 pounds, 10 ounces, and he was 23 inches in length."
"Not everything went as expected," Mrs. Dillard added. "We were reminded of the verse that the Bible talks about where man plans his way but the Lord directs his steps. We were encouraged by that and yeah, he's just a handsome little fellow."
While the fourth child of Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar did not specify just what went awry, she had originally intended to give birth in her home. Duggar can be seen in the hospital in her new video, as the birth of Israel seemingly required professional medical care.
The midwife-in-training told ABC last year when she was pregnant that she hoped to have a natural birth in her home with the help of a midwife. "I feel like it will be way more relaxing... and having the baby at home with a midwife provides more of that personal care," she explained at the time. "It's more intimate for the couple as well, getting to be in your own environment."
