Even though she's not whipping contestants into shape on national television, celebrity trainer Jillian Michaels is hard at work on a different kind of life-changing motive; having a child.
But don't start looking for a bump, because the 37-year-old Biggest Loser alum is trying to adopt from the Congo.

After announcing that she would be ending her contract with the NBC reality weight-loss series in December, Michaels explained her desire to start a family. "I'm going to adopt," she said in an interview last spring with Women's Health magazine. "I can't handle doing that to my body. Also, when you rescue something, it's like rescuing a part of yourself."

So how "far along" is the aspiring mom?
"My dossier, which is your paperwork portfolio, is in to the Democratic Republic of the Congo," Michaels told Us Weekly, Monday in NYC at the National Magazine Awards. "So the paperwork is done, and now it’s just a waiting game. It could be six months, twelve months; it could be two years. Or, it could be tomorrow! They call you and they say, 'Oh, we have your referral,' which is essentially the child they match you up with, and you go overseas and you get him or her."

In the meantime, the tough-as-nails trainer will have plenty to keep her busy. She recently landed a multi-year deal to join the expert panel of TV's syndicated series The Doctors, and "couldn't be more excited." She will appear alongside ER physician (and former contestant on The Bachelor!) Dr. Travis Stork; OB/GYN Dr. Lisa Masterson; cosmetic and reconstructive surgeon Dr. Drew Ordon and pediatrician Dr. Jim Sears.

Tell Us What You Think
25There are children in the United States who need adopted. If you want children adopt from your own country.
Well I have PCOS and have 3 natural children without having so much of an issue. So it can be done with it. Personally I love her but I think its more than PCOS thats the issue. But honestly who cares I wish her the best.
So many children in foster homes here in America, and who need adoption. Our hearts need to give here also.
She has PCOS, Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome -- that's what she's talking about when she says "I can't put my body through that." You should all know by now not to take any kind of "journalism" at face value because you never get the full story. And who cares where she's adopting from. And to the person who called a BABY from the Congo "a trouble maker," your racism is showing.
I don't get what's with adopting these children from other nations. Adopt children from the country you live in and the culture you know. We have plenty of needy kids here who need a chance for happiness and love.
I'm not sure of the particulars, but I do think it's more difficult to adopt in the USA and I think that adoptive parents likely worry because there is a greater chance that birth parents may try to get their child back or that the child may seek their birth parents when they get older...
If YOU are not adopting a kid from anywhere, don't question where other people choose to adopt. When YOU start opening up your home to orpans in America, then judge.
Faqeer- You Need to be in a straight jacket dude.
I really wish these celebs would start adopting in the USA! Oh and rescuing! so when her kid grows up she'll tell him or her I'd rescued you!!!!
Apparently adopting in the good ole USA isn't cool. Ther are plenty of wonderful children here who need parents.
My Dear, My Love You can never see How much I love you And What you mean to me All I need is
I hope that you finally understand, that I will love you untill the end, because your not just my girl, you are also my best friend!
Heather, LOL...thats funny she prolly is a man in real life " i cant handle doing that to my body" yeah cause you cant push a baby out of a penis obviously,lol...if she ever gets knocked up, i hope she gets a trillion stretch marks,BAHAHAHA
I was adopted right here in the USA! Born in Ohio and put up for adoption! What's wrong with adopting here in the USA anymore?? And rescuing "something"?? I have never thought of myself as a thing....
She looks like a man to me...a baby from Congo? Why u.s.a does not have orphans? Why bring some trouble maker here?
"i cant handle doing that to my body..." what a selfish and egotistical thing to say. as a woman you are given the opportunity to have children and selfishly say oh i wont because itll ruin my figure...if she couldn't have children thats one thing...if you cant there are thousands of children in this country who desperately need help and love and care. seems selfish to me
USA has many starving, and children who need adoption. Why do these rich adopt out of USA, except Sandra Bullock. It is like slapping your own country.
So, it's ok for some poor woman in the congo to ruin her figure LOL what a ridiculous thing to say. A person who worries more about their figure than having their own child is not ready to be a parent
Maybe she can't do that to her body because she's actually a man. LOL!
resue something. i thought she was adopting a baby not rescuing a dog.
