Jim Carrey is a grandpa!

His 22-year-old daughter, Jane, welcomed a baby boy in Los Angeles Friday, a rep for the actor confirms to UsMagazine.com.

Jackson Riley Santana was born at 12:28 Friday morning and weighed in at 7 lbs., 11 oz. and is 20 inches long, the rep added.

"Something beautiful is right around the corner! ;^)" Carrey, 47, posted on Twitter on Tuesday. Friday morning, he added, "right around the corner! ;^)"

Jane (Carrey's daughter with ex wife Melissa Womer) wed the baby's father, Alex Santana, who is in the band "Blood Money" and goes by the stage name "Nitro," in November. She fronts her own alternative rock band, The Jane Carrey Band.

After announcing her pregnancy last July, Carrey told Us, "I'm very excited. Jane is going to be a great mom."

Jenny McCarthy, Carrey's girlfriend of five years, told Us earlier this month that she would make an "awesome grandma."

"The world's best, is what I say," McCarthy, 37, joked to Us.

She said Jane has been calling her for advice.

"We have an awesome relationship. I consider her my daughter," McCarthy said.

There is reason to suspect several vaccines given at once to infants will have an adverse affect on some, one of which could be causing a form of autism. Common sense would dictate to a parent to spread them out over time and start at a later age. I don't advocate not giving vaccines at all, but my oldest grandson is autistic and he was given several vaccines at once, and almost overnight his personality changed. I have to think there is a causal affect.

I don't mean to argue this point here, on a tabloid page, by any means. However, to clarify: I never specified the MMR vac. I am not up to date which vacs contain what ingredients, I just know that mercury and thimerosal are the two ingredients central to this theory. Also, my brother in law is autistic. My in-laws do NOT support the theory of vaccines causing autism. My fil is a DVM, obviously not the same as in humans, but still very knowledgeable about medical information and, here's the key, able to UNDERSTAND the terminology that he reads. DH and I are both nursing students, and we also do not support this theory. AND, I believe (because I do not claim to know everything) that these ingredients have been pulled from vacs and yet the incidence of autism is increasing at an alarming rate. I am only saying that I don't believe there is a correlation and that this major study has done a disservice to autistic individuals because so much research has gone to trying to prove this theory rather than looking into other possibilities. And I am glad JC is involved as well as JM. I just wish that celebrities wouldn't use their positions to influence ignorant (as in the general masses) people. Donate money to research instead. AND ignorant means uneducated or uninformed, not stupid, just fyi, I'm not trying to be insulting. I wish only good things for your family and all those affected by autism because I do know how heartbreaking it is.

Jim DOES alot for Autism research as does Jenny. There IS reason to believe that SOME vaccines DO cause Autism! AS a parent of a child on the AUtism Spectrum I know how hard it is on the parents as well as the child with Autism. I applaud Jenny and Jim for everything they have done and continue to do for Autism research! I was not a big fan of him or her but seeing everything that she has done since her son's diagnosis and what he has done in recent years I think they are really great, caring people! Autism is real and affects a large number of families today! Do some research and educate yourselves b/c chances are someone you know will be affected in one way or another by autism!

  • February 27, 2010 - 12:49pm Vaccine Safety Is Compromised

"Lily" is uninformed. The MMR she refers to NEVER HAD mercury; it's attenuated. No parents ever complained about Dr. Wakefield; it was the GMC, abetted by a UK paper with pharma ties. Look up reports to VAERS - the Vaccine Adverse Events Reporting System. Look up the definitions of ADEM, demyelination, neuroinflammation, syncope. You don't realize how many children are being written off as collateral damage in the war on disease. If it happens to you, the pharmaceutical companies have no responsibility to help you and the government agencies pretend you are lying rather than investigating. The system is broken, people!

It's hard to ignore the terrifying rising rates of autism and how it seems to correlate with vaccines we now give. I feel it might have to do with giving a small baby four shots at one doctors visit. I cringe when I think of my son getting 4 shots at once. I started to spread out his vaccines to one shot every 6 months and brought him back four different times in 2 years. I will also spread out my new baby's shots. As a kid from the 70's and 80's, my mom said we never got 4 different vaccines stuck into us at once. It just doesn't seem right.
