Put yourself out there, mom! Kate Gosselin revealed in a new interview with The Insider, published on Tuesday, Dec. 8, that it was her eight kids who encouraged her to get out there and start dating again.
“[The kids] have been asking me, ‘When are you going to start dating? I think you should go on a date,'" Gosselin, 40, shared. "They know that it’s just me, and I’m lonely at times, so they actually have been saying it for a very, very long time."
There are, however, two big hurdles holding Gosselin back from dating again, and they are her high school–aged twin daughters, Mady and Cara. "They’re 15 and talking about boys, too," Gosselin dished. "And it just doesn’t feel normal to have mom and daughters dating . . . That’s really creepy."
The reality TV mom and her children, including 11-year-old sextuplets, Aaden, Collin, Hannah, Alexis, Leah, and Joel, are currently preparing for Season 4 of their family's TLC spinoff series, Kate Plus 8. As seen in the teaser, Gosselin has slowly started wading back into the dating pool, and even went on a helicopter date with a millionaire mystery man.
However, the star said she's skeptical of any man who would rush into a relationship with her. "I kind of think like, 'So, why me? Do you know that I have eight kids?'" she dished to The Insider. "Not that that’s a bad thing. It's just a big thing. So I think a lot of my obstacles might be mental."
Gosselin and her millionaire boyfriend, Jeff Prescott, called it quits this past Labor Day after eight months of dating. As was reported at the time, the divorced dad of three went MIA on Gosselin, and while traveling the world, he met his next girlfriend, a 26-year-old blonde.
Prior to Prescott, Gosselin dated her bodyguard, Steve Neild. She and her ex-husband, Jon Gosselin, finalized their divorce in 2009.
