Kelly Rowland: If You Didn’t Have Stretch Marks, Cellulite After Baby, ‘I Really Don’t Like You’

She wasn’t quite ready for that jelly. Kelly Rowland opened up about her post-baby body and lamented about getting stretch marks and cellulite after welcoming son Titan Jewell — who she shares with husband Tim Witherspoon — in November 2014.

The “Bootylicious” singer, 35, appeared in Allure magazine’s new video series “Pretty Powerful,” during which she spoke candidly about the physical effects of becoming a mother.

“I wish that someone would invent something to take away stretch marks and cellulite,” Rowland said with a laugh, as seen in the nearly 4-minute clip above. “If you don’t have stretch marks and cellulite after you had a baby, I really don’t like you. It’s just not fair.”

She added: “[Giving birth] challenged and changed the way I looked at my body.”

Despite her apparent wish to reclaim her pre-pregnancy physique, the Destiny’s Child alum told Allure that she started to feel her most confident after entering her 30s. The Grammy winner believes her newfound self-assurance has been instrumental in helping her come to terms with her physical transformation.

“When I made 30-something happen, I just felt this click of everything kind of falling into place, and really feeling comfortable in my skin … feeling myself,” she explained.

Though she always puts her family first, Rowland touted the benefits of self-love while filming the video segment: “If you can’t take care of yourself, you don’t have anything else to give to anybody else. So I’m my No. 1.”

“You’re making your schedule for your baby, your husband, and where do you fall into place?” she continued. “I was like, ‘I have to give something back to myself first before I can give anything to anybody else.’ I truly believe in that.”

Still, the Chasing Destiny star finds joy in looking after and spending quality time with her little one. “I try hard to make time each day for just me and Titan to connect,” she told Us Weekly in August 2015. “A lot of days that is naptime. I can close the bedroom door, turn on some music and just be with him. I also love reading to him and definitely putting him to sleep. It’s one of the times I feel the most connected to him.”
