Namaste and a new year. Mom of two Kim Kardashian reflected on her holiday traditions in a new update on her website on Wednesday, December 16, and said that she was especially thankful this past year for her famous family remaining intact despite many ups and downs.

The Keeping Up With the Kardashians star, 35, kicked off her post with photos from inside Kris Jenner‘s decorated mansion in Calabasas, Calif., where Kim and husband Kanye West and their two kids, North and Saint, are staying as they continue renovations on their mansion.

“I’m so excited to be living with my mom this Christmas, because she always goes all out with the decorations!” Kardashian shared. “She gets the biggest tree that literally looks like it should be at Macy’s or something, LOL. She always sets out lifesize nutcracker soldiers along the entrance to the front door and hangs icicle lights from the trees in the driveway and the backyard. We also always have a Christmas Eve party at her house. It’s been a tradition as long as I can remember and we always have a photo booth there. Kanye and I took the black and white picture (below) in last year’s photo booth, and it’s been my phone screen saver ever since! The entire backyard is also transformed into a holiday wonderland!”

Unlike last year’s blowout Christmas Eve bash — which included twinkly lights galore, a mega Belvedere vodka bar and a visit from Santa himself — the family’s holiday plans will be slightly more low-key next week. “This year, we have definitely downsized the party,” Kardashian revealed. “Because I think the older we get, and with all of us being so busy, it’s more important to spend the holidays with our immediate family and really close friends. We always do Christmas morning at Kourt’s, and all of our presents are under her tree. We head over in our pajamas when we wake up — it’s such a fun tradition!”

Something new for Kim is that her 2-year-old daughter, Nori, is starting to grasp the meaning of Christmas. “This is the first year that North really gets it and she understands who Santa is,” shared the star, who welcomed her second child, Saint, on December 5. “It’s going to be so fun with North and Saint and all of the kids, watching them open gifts this year! It gives Christmas a new meaning when you get to experience it through your child’s eyes.”

After all, the Kardashian-Jenner family has been through a lot of changes in 2015, including Caitlyn Jenner coming out as a transgendered woman, Kylie Jenner turning 18 and moving out, Kourtney Kardashian’s split with longtime boyfriend Scott Disick, Khloé Kardashian’s estranged husband Lamar Odom’s hospitalization and Saint’s birth.

“I’m really thankful that my family will all be together this year,” Kim concluded. “After a long, exhausting, crazy fun-filled year, it’s sooo nice to slow down for a couple days and spend time with the family. No distractions — just much-needed relaxing quality time. I can’t think of anything more I could ask for!!!”
