America's domestic diva apparently has a dark side.

In a scathing new tell-all book, Martha Stewart's daughter, Alexis, reveals that life as the homemaker's child was far from perfect.

"Martha does everything better! You can't win!" Alexis, 46, writes of her mother, 70, in her new book Whateverland: Learning to Live Here, out October 18 (as first excerpted by the U.K. Daily Mail). "If I didn't do something perfectly, I had to do it again. I grew up with a glue gun pointed at my head."

Now a mother herself, Alexis angrily reflects in her book on Martha's lack of basic parenting skills.

"Martha was not interested in being kid-friendly," Alexis reveals in Whateverland. "She used to make me wrap my own presents. She would hand me things right before Christmas and say, 'Now wrap these but don't look inside.'"

But Alexis says she took the most issue with the domestic diva's habits around the house.

"My mother has a sign on all of her doors to take your shoes off," Alexis writes. "For god's sake! My mother's dogs p--s and s--t on her rugs and she's telling people to take their shoes off?

"[She] always peed with the door open," Alexis continued of her mother's bathroom hygiene. "I remember saying, 'You know, now I have friends over! You can't do that anymore! It's gotta stop! My friends' parents don't do it! Give me a break here! I don’t feel like being embarrassed! It's exhausting! I'm a kid! Stop!'"

Though Alexis drops these and other bombshells in the book, she insists she harbors no ill will. In fact, she even dedicated the tome to Martha. Says the TV personality of her daughter, Alexis: "She's her own person. She makes up her own mind."

    what a s**t-load of lies

I'm sad for Martha if her daughter really intended to lash out at her but I don't think she meant it the way US Weekly made it sound. A headline that says lashing out is much more controversial. It's possible this might have been taken out of context. I doubt anyone from US Weekly has even bothered to read the book. Maybe she was making an attempt at humor by giving funny anecdotes about growing up with the domestic diva as a mother. Carrie Fisher did it and no one called her a brat. I'm giving Alexis the benefit of the doubt here but that still wouldn't induce me to buy her book.

Let*s see what kind of mother she will be, I bet this b**** will be worse than Martha!

No ones childhood is perfect. I hope Alexis takes all in stride when her kid(s) write a book about her. I am sure she is not the perfect mother either.

Is there anyone that had a perfect childhood??? No one is perfect even though Martha tries to be, this book just proves to everyone that Martha has her faults just like everyone else. If anything this book will make her seem more human.

I saw Alexis' show and interviews, this is a miserable brat. In Marthas behalf I figure if you're close to being a billionairess, and you can get up at 4 a.m. in the morning every day to walk your own dogs, you can't be all bad. Alexis has a hell of a nerve.

She left the door OPEN when she went to the bathroom?!?! Oh the HORROR!!! Alexis, my dear, how did you manage to survive?!?!? My G-d, woman, you must have nerves of steel after having to suffer the abuse of taking off your shoes (and asking your friends to do it, too!! ) your whole life. You poor, poor, poor....sad...pathetic....irrational...publicity-hungry woman.

If I were Martha I'd re-visit my will, although the snot already has a fortune from Martha.

At least she had the courtesy to write the book while her mother is still alive to defend these allegations.

I'm not surprised by Alexis' statements. I never did like Martha and I can only imagine how it must have been growing up with that woman as a mother. Martha is so condescenting all the time. I would have run away.

I don't think she should be airing family private matters. I can't stand this woman. When she had her own show, she was spoiled and arrogant. Not pleasant, and very self centered. I happen to like Martha. She worked hard to get where she is. She took care of the elderly when she was a teen and put money in the bank to pay for her own education. When she was married she took a young girl under her wing, only to have this young woman have an affair with her husband. I give her credit.

Think I might give this a read. I don't think it's ungrateful for speaking about one's childhood. Let her tell it like it happened to her. She has every right to her own take on her life.

None of this surprises me. I can't imagine living with that woman. Alexis is just writing this to get things off her chest. Most people are probably not surprised that Martha is not an easy woman to get along with or was not the most nurturing mother. Leave Alexis alone. Just because she was born into money. She didn't ask for that. She was just a kid who wanted to be a kid. Good grief Martha...you could have shut the door when you went to the bathroom.

Alexis is one spoiled ignorant brat, who has a made a absolute fortune from and off her mother. Even in her tv program with her girl friend she slammed her mother at every turn. I can't stand this woman. Marha is oc and has had this for years, and has many good moments.

Alexis left her husband years ago. She's a single mom do you want to imagine the therapy bills for that kid? By the way, Alexis is hardly a kid - she's in her mid-forties. Martha is not a nice woman but who cares, when you let someone treat you like crap for years why should they be expected to change. Alexis wont speak to her dad anymore because he got out and he didn't take her with him. I don't think Alexis is looking for pity. I think she is just looking to make money on her own. She spent lots of mom's millions on IVF and surrogacy to make her baby.
