Long before Fifty Shades of Grey, Dakota Johnson wanted to be just like her famous mom Melanie Griffith, as evidenced in a new photo posted to Griffith’s Instagram on Tuesday, Jan. 13.
The Something Wild star, 57, shared the sweetest throwback photo of her daughter from over 20 years ago, when Johnson was 4 years old.
In the pic, Griffith wears a knitted blue sweater which she pulls down over her left shoulder to reveal a heart tattoo. Her look-alike daughter — then blonde-haired and blue-eyed — looks over her shoulder on the right side and proudly flaunts her makeshift tattoo stamped on her upper arm.
“Me and Dakota sporting tatoo’ circa 1993,” Griffith captioned the cute snap with her now-grown up daughter, 25. (Dakota is Griffith’s daughter with actor Don Johnson; Griffith’s mom is Birds star Tippi Hedren.)
While the Hollywood scion gears up for her biggest role yet in Fifty Shades of Grey, Dakota has refused to let her parents see the film due to its well-known erotic nature.
Griffith complained about her daughter’s demand last August in an interview. “She was like, ‘You guys cannot come. There’s no way,'” Griffith told IndieWire. “So we’re not going.”
Doting mama Griffith, however, finagled her way into the notorious Red Room of Pain, a kinky S&M location featured in E L James‘ romance novel. “I did go visit for a couple of days when they were shooting just normal stuff,” she noted. “I did see the Room of Pain—I did go in there and check it out.”
