It’s official! Meryl Streep is now a first-time grandmother after her daughter Mamie Gummer gave birth to her first child, a boy, the new mom’s rep confirms to Us Weekly.
In December 2018, Us confirmed that Streep’s 35-year-old daughter and her fiancé, Mehar Sethi, had a little one on the way.
Gummer and the producer, 36, got engaged in August. Sethi posted a picture on Instagram of the Ricki and the Flash star on a street in Croatia’s Opatija Riviera, writing, “My fiancé.”
The New York native is the eldest daughter of the Oscar-winning actress and sculptor Don Gummer. Together, they have three other children: musician Henry, 39, Smash alum Grace, 32, and Louisa, 27.
Before her relationship with the writer, the Good Wife star was romantically linked to Benjamin Walker. After an October 2009 proposal featuring a custom-made engagement ring, the pair tied the knot in July 2011 at Streep’s Connecticut home and lived in Park Slope, Brooklyn. They split in March 2013.
“It’s very amicable,” Gummer’s rep told Us of the breakup at the time.
The new mom isn’t the only one to have moved on from the failed marriage. The Shimmer Lake star was engaged to actress Kaya Scodelario for a year before their December 2015 wedding.
“They’re very happy,” a source told Us after the stand-up comedian proposed to his The King’s Daughter costar. “Everyone is thrilled for them. They fell heads over heels for each other.”
Scodelario, 26, announced the birth of their first baby in December 2016 with an Instagram post. “Welcome to the world little man,” the Maze Runner star wrote at the time. “We couldn’t be happier or more in love with you & Arnie’s loving his new cuddle buddy.”
