They're going to be dads! Nate Berkus announced on Wednesday, Sept. 24, that he and husband Jeremiah Brent are expecting their first child via surrogate. The TV personality and interior designer made the announcement via Facebook, and the same message was posted to Brent's page as well.
"Wanted to share some exciting news…." Berkus, 43, wrote. "We have had the most special year and its JUST become even more beautiful. We are happy to announce that we are expecting our first child!"
The couple went on to reveal a few additional details related to their happy news. "While we can’t share much, we can say that thanks to a surrogate and the support of those we love we will officially be a family in the spring of 2015!"
Berkus and Brent, a former assistant to Rachel Zoe, tied the knot this past May at the New York Public Library in NYC. As previously reported by Us Weekly, their intimate ceremony was attended by celebrities like Berkus' mentor Oprah Winfrey, Dr. Oz, and R&B singer Estelle, who made a grand entrance singing "American Boy."
Their road to baby has been a talked-about one. Last March, the couple deflected rumors that they were expecting a child and exclusively confirmed to Us that the reports were false. "There is no truth to the rumor," Berkus' rep told Us at the time. "There is no surrogate and no plans for a baby at this time."
