"We absolutely plan to have a family," Nick Cannon, 29, told MTV News of his wife of nearly two years, Mariah Carey, 40.

Getting pregnant may have to wait until Carey is done touring to promote her newest album, Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel, Cannon said.
"She's on tour right now, I'm doing a bunch of stuff, so eventually we want to be able to say, 'It's time to have a kid,' and set everything up," Cannon said.

"But we're definitely moving toward [having children]. We got our house in L.A., and we got a house [in New York], established and close to schools," he went on. "So we take all of that stuff into consideration."

Yah right. Where have I heard this before? Oh that's right. Demi and ashton. Now he is still a boy toy with no boy to buy toys for. 40 is not too old for EVERY woman to have babies though (just most). My mother was much MUCH older than 40 when she gave birth to my baby sister (and my dad was Methuselah's grandfather). Plus my mother and Mariah are wealthy and can afford the best fertility treatments on earth. My father wasnt in my sister's life long ...But... my parents would never have continued having babies so late into life if they werent confident that my sister had a very big family network of siblings and half siblings there to take care of her in the event of both parents passing. Its not like she would have ended up in an orphanage or something. As long as there is a strong family network in place, its ok to have babies late in life. Miscarrying is the biggest risk chicks her age face.
Good grief man.. having babies with a woman that's 40, what are you thinking, what is she thinking, obviously neither of you are..40 year old women need to find another thing in life to do beside thinking of having babies. THEY ARE TO OLD to have babies at 40!! Who's gonna take care of these babies when your gone at that age.. geez

Heather - Where did you get your info? That is not true! The statistics seem higher in women over 40 because less women have children in that age group. Actually women in their 20's have just as many Down's babies but show lower numbers because many more women have children in their 20's.
Age isn't a direct indicator of a child being born with health issues, especially Down's Syndrome. That's a vulnerability in the DNA and could happen through a mother of any age. The age aspect is only a possible related factor, but means nothing in itself. You could have gotten asthma regardless of your mother's age.
well my mom had me when she was 45. And 2 other children - my sisters- when she was in her early 40's. So it's a possibility just not as a good of a posibility as when you're 20. Oh and yes higher chance or the child being born with issues/health problems. like me. I have asthma and have had it since birth.

Well she better hurry, she's 40. She may not have any eggs left. You only have so many from the time you are born. Once there gone, there gone. She now has a 50/50 chance of having a baby with downs syndrom. Accurate finding by the way.

They'd better get going then! How long is this tour? Times a'wastin'! She also better lay off the booze if they're trying. It can affect fetal development even before you know you're pregnant.
