What a good girl! She turns one year old next month, but North West is already a well-mannered little tot, as evidenced during her parents Kim Kardashian and Kanye West's pre-wedding lunch, hosted by designer Valentino at his Château de Wideville outside Paris. Writing about the festive, formal multi-course meal at the opulent site (once home to King Louis XIV’s mistress) for Vogue.com, Andre Leon Talley marvels that Nori was darlingly well-behaved.
The baby was "dressed in anthracite gray and tights, no shoes," Talley writes, with mom Kim, 33, tending to feed her between the first and second courses. North's great-grandmother, Mary Jo Shannon (enjoying her first-ever trip to Paris) was seen "playing with North’s shoeless, stocking feet as she talked to [Kim]," Talley writes. "By dessert time, North was nibbling on Valentino’s dark chocolate from a beautiful dish, and I heard her say 'Pa,' looking for her father," Talley continues.
Other items on the menu included a first course of artichoke hearts salad and poached egg with hollandaise, followed by baked sea bass with sliced zucchini plus vegetable tempura ( "a favorite of North's," Talley says, "who tried with her few teeth coming in to chew on a slim carrot slice.").
After dessert (a "Kanye and Kim" sugar-free cake and a blown sugar bowl filled with peach and lychee sorbet), the wedding party (including Kim's sisters Khloe and Kourtney Kardashian, Kylie and Kendall Jenner and matriarch Kris) took a tour of Valentino's historic property.
"Through all this, North cried not once nor grimaced," Talley writes. "With the curious focus, like her father, she gazed at the Meissen monkey candlesticks, every plate, including the rare chargers, white porcelain with swans, floating on crested china of Elizabeth II of Russia."
Nori stayed behind at the hotel Georges V for the evening rehearsal dinner at the Palace of Versailles, where guests drank champagne, nibbled caviar and watched Lana Del Rey perform. The wedding party and all their guests are now in Florence, Italy as the wedding ceremony gets underway at the Forte di Belvedere.
