I never said anything about teen pregnancy or welfare I only said that Amy didn't strike me as the type that would abort her child to supposedly save her career. as Ms Neal was forced to in 1950 and carried guilt until her death earlier this month. and as I also said Aviana is a gorgeous little girl as ms Neals daughters are.

To SLD said - "What purpose does it serve to have a kid with no marital committment, nothing but a baby momma. How many kids by how many different fathers in the same household. Too selfish to make a commitment as serious as marriage. It all sets women back 50 years." !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! you are so wrong!! so stupid! seriously do some feminist reading and realise that marriage is a deeply patriarchal tradition which is basically to ensure the 'true bloodline' of sons and their inheritance/family wealth etc. wtf. i am not against marriage, i clearly view it in a different and more sacred way to you. i just had to point out your stupidity in thinking that it somehow sets back the feminist movement if women are allowed to have children out of wedLOCK. "what purpose does it serve"?? so to have children is purely to carry on the family name and wealth? forget if the unmarried couple are in a loving and stable relationship? if you argue that all unmarried men leave their children/girlfriends it just shows that you don't know any decent men

  • July 29, 2010 - 2:31pm WTF???

Some people are so ignorant. How did this story bring up a conversation about teenage pregnancy, abortions and welfare??? Some religions say no to birth control...just sayin'.

  • July 28, 2010 - 4:55pm LL

72 hours is plenty of time to swallow a pill..the one bought in the drugstore without prescription is NOT the abortion pill..and any woman who "forgets" to use birth control, who has a mate who also "forgets" to use birth control, at the same time..need not have the responsibility of a baby. Sheer laziness. If you know your apt to have sex, use birth control!

  • July 28, 2010 - 9:01am Courtney

Please you can only use the morning after pill up to 72 hours after sex where the condom failed or the woman forgot to use birth control. and besides the morning after pill either induces an early abortion or prevents the fertilized egg from implanting so the woman may feel pregnant but she's actually not. and besides Amy doesn't strike me as the type of woman that would get pregnant and then abort the baby on purpose. it's not like it was in the fifties when an unmarried star even if she was engaged to be married was forced by the studio and her handlers to get an abortion like Patricia Neal was when she was pregnant with Gary Cooper's baby in 1950. Amy and Darren seem to be in authentic love look at how he looks at her. if they weren't in love would there be stars in his eyes everytime he looked at her me thinks not.

OMG - to the person who says most ppl who have babies out of commitment are tramps -- where did you get your stats??? Making stuff up does not prove anything unless you know who *most* of the ppl you're talking about. What a load of bull. I'm not saying that those who have babies out of wedlock are necessearily tramps but plz do not generalize. I know plenty of ppl who had babies within committed relationships and are still married after several decades -- 20, 30, 40, 50 years, stayed together because of true love, had babies out of authentic love for each other and are not tramps. So quit with your generalizing.

OMG...SLD what rock did you crawl out from under? Life must be very different on your planet. Get in this century because you sound like an idiot. There is no "Father Knows Best" reality.

  • July 27, 2010 - 10:08pm Sadie

To SLD, society "stinks" because of poor education. For example, whichever state you're from never taught you how to spell or write complete sentences. You begin your rant by saying women that have children out of a commitment are tramps then denigrate women who have children without "marital committment." Which is it? Are the mothers "tramps" and "scanks" when they have children with or without commitment? Also, when you start a sentence with "How many..." you should end it with a question mark. I sincerely hope only a very small percentage of your income has gone to your local educational system. If you've contributed anything more than $30, you were ripped off. You are what George W. Bush would call "left behind." I hope your children are able to receive a better education than you have.

@tf - You totally read my mind. Horrible choice for Janis Joplin.

  • July 27, 2010 - 7:31pm mmlove

I loved Amy in Julie & Julia. Congrats on their new baby!

  • July 27, 2010 - 7:22pm To SLD

Most who have kids out of a commitment are tramps, like it or not. This couple is the exception, not the rule, BS, if a woman can't take birth control, there is the morning after pill, and a man can use protection. Not one reason why any woman should have a kid this way, let alone a teenie. I think the ones supported by the taxpayers, with all the free financial help, are a destruction to society and scanks. They bring society down. Why don't the ones that have illegitimate kids look at all the married women there are, the ones trying to make a good life for their kids. I don't care what year it is. Look at society. It stinks because of the scanks. What purpose does it serve to have a kid with no marital committment, nothing but a baby momma. How many kids by how many different fathers in the same household. Too selfish to make a commitment as serious as marriage. It all sets women back 50 years.

  • July 27, 2010 - 7:14pm 2 Each His Own

It may be hard to believe, but some people really are true to their spiritual beliefs, meaning it doesn't matter if a couple's been dating for 30 yrs & they're both 80 years old...it is about religion/faith for a select few people, including myself. Does that mean I should or anyone else should be casting stones? No, b'cause nobody is perfect, except the one who walked on water. His expectations of us have never changed just b'cause we're in the Millieum. Having a baby is never a sin...it's the sex part that is more so the issue. Again, 2 each his own. Hope they're happy no matter what.

  • July 27, 2010 - 6:47pm Courtney

grow up people they've been together nine years engaged for two. Aviana is gorgeous leave them alone. birth control doesn't always prevent a pregnancy anyway and besides some women Amy included can't use any form of hormonal birth control so stop calling her a tramp and so forth. They love each other and obviously their baby daughter. thankfully they didn't have to struggle through loss before she came along like other star couples have. Sophia Loren And Carlo Ponti for instance suffered through her two miscarriages before she bore their two beloved sons Carlo Jr and Edoardo.

  • July 27, 2010 - 6:44pm SLD

OhMyGod, you people are kinda odd. So what if there not married. They are engaged. It's not her man just hit it and quit it. And she is old enough to have and take care of a child. So stop freaking out about it. It's stupid you people are talking about how she should have been married and everything. We are in 2010 where people have kids married or not. It isn't nothing new.

  • July 27, 2010 - 6:38pm How i c it

Some people choose to get married b'cause they're in luv & that's the ultimate form of committment. Some for spiritual reasons. In most people's faith, fornication is usually discouraged. It's something special when u've found ur mate & have a covenant bond united by God. I do realize that ppl have different values & must do what works for them. We must also be willing to live with whatever decisions we make.

  • July 27, 2010 - 6:23pm Sharlynn

to all of you idiots going on about having a child out of wedlock, wake up its the 21st century. people jump into unhappy marriges because they think it will be best for the child and it almost always backfires. if all u have to say is negativity then leave your comments to yourself. i send my congratulations to amy and aviana, and hunny motherhood looks great on you.

  • July 27, 2010 - 5:59pm To Ali

Most, still are not trash, teens need a kick in the a$$ for not using birth control, and then living off the taxpayers. The words tramp, sl ut, and wh0re have not left the English language. Look them up.

  • July 27, 2010 - 5:40pm Emily

Tweet Tweet..listen kid, grow up, and get yourself out of the trash bin. It's easy to see what category your in.

  • July 27, 2010 - 5:34pm Ali

WTF! Is up with people today? So what they arent married . Its their choice. I too would like things to be old fashioned but today no it 2010! not 1950 and teens are having sex and having babies before marriage. An so are adults.
