The actress, 41, became a mom in April 2018 when her now-2-year-old son arrived. While McAdams never confirmed her first pregnancy or the infant’s birth, she spoke about motherhood seven months later.

“It’s the greatest thing that’s ever happened to me, hands-down,” the Mean Girls star told The Sunday Times in November 2018. “[People say] your life is not your own any more, but I had 39 years of me, I was sick of me, I was so happy to put the focus on some other person.”

McAdams added at the time: “I waited a long time [for motherhood]. It’s just how it happened. And I didn’t want to do it before it was the right time.”

Even though she is in the public eye, the Oscar nominee noted that she doesn’t wish to hold that same standard for her son, whose name she has never disclosed.

“I want to keep his life private, even if mine isn’t,” McAdams told the outlet. “But I’m having more fun being a mum than I’ve ever had. Everything about it is interesting and exciting and inspiring to me. Even the tough days — there’s something delightful about them.”

In December 2018, the Spotlight star made headlines after posing for a picture pumping breast milk while wearing Versace, Bulgari diamonds and a black hands-free pumping bra.

“Obviously #rachelmcadams looks incredible and was quite literally the dream to work with, but also this shoot was about six months post her giving birth to her son, so between shots she was expressing/pumping as still breast-feeding,” photographer Claire Rothstein wrote via Instagram of the power pose. “We had a mutual appreciation/disagreement about whose idea it was to take this picture, but I’m still sure it was hers which makes me love her even more. Breast-feeding is the most normal thing in the world and I can’t for the life of me imagine why or how it is ever frowned upon or scared of.”
