“We are so thankful to have a healthy baby girl on the way,” the Real Housewives of Orange County star, 31, told Us Weekly in a statement. “IVF was well worth it!”

Just a few days earlier, at the RHOC premiere party on Thursday, June 16, the reality star opened up to Us about documenting her IVF journey for the hit show. “I have a lot of friends who have had fertility issues. Some talk about it and some don’t talk about it, but one thing is consistent: It’s hard on every single one of them,” she said. "I’m an open person, so I wanted to show my process and the heartaches and the ups and the downs that go with IVF so people can say, ‘It’s OK to feel this way.’"

King Edmonds said the IVF treatments were a struggle, especially because “shots suck,” and the process was an emotional roller coaster. "A lot of it is so intense that when you are going through it, it’s like an invisible illness in some ways. People don’t recognize that your brain is going haywire and this weight that you are gaining is because of hormones,” she told Us. “I was like a monster. I was crying all the time. My husband was like, ‘Who are you?’"

Since she’s already a stepmom to the former baseball pro’s four children from two previous marriages, she’s well-prepared for parenthood and excited to raise a baby of her own. “I’m a stepmom, and I really feel like I am a mom in every way but the name. I do everything but half the time,” she said. "I’m excited to have a child of my own with me every day.”

The Bravo star posted her first bump photo on Instagram on Monday in a form-fitting gray dress. “We’re expecting a perfect little bundle of sugar and spice and everything nice!” she captioned the pic of the couple holding hands. “Jimmy and I are over the moon! We are thrilled to bring our daughter into our perfectly imperfect blended family in time for the holidays!”

King Edmonds and her husband, 45, married in October 2014, and she joined RHOC last year in season 10.
