Celebrity Moms February 16, 2010 AT 6:24PM

Baby Josie Duggar -- who was born at just 25 weeks -- is slowly gaining strength, as a clip from Tuesday night's 19 Kids and Counting shows. (Watch above.)

"It's just very difficult seeing her struggle for life like this," a wistful Michelle, 43, says of her 19th child, who weighed just 1 lb., 6 oz. at birth. "I haven't really gotten to hold her yet. I'm really looking forward to the day I get to pick her up."

I think its their choice what they do with their lives, their religion is irrelevant, their children all seem very caring and kind like them. Its looks like they are self sufficient and hard working, I wish them all the best and hope Josie continues to thrive.I have two kids and its hard to spread your love but they seem to do a very good job of it, no-one can comment unless they live in the family! They seem to put their kids first with their beliefs.

It would be totally selfish for this couple to continue having babies. Are they missing this may be a sign from God to STOP? They have a lot of other kids to consider. They have a grandchild. Enough already!

Congrats on your beatiful little blessing from the Lord!!! For those of you being critical, her age has nothing to do with the pre-ecclampsia that was the reason for the premature birth. This condition strikes pregnant women of all ages and any # of pregnancy. I have seen 16 yr olds with 1st pregnancies have this. It is not related at all to age or # of pregnancies she had. Nor is it related to anything she did or didn't do. Grow up. The Duggars are probably the most responsible family out there.

Prayers and good wishes for the Duggar family and beautiful little Josie. I think the family is one of the most down to earth, lovable, God fearing families I have ever seen. Some day, all you who are so critical will have to account for your bitternes and bad spiritness. I would love to be a fly on the wall then.... To the Duggars I send my prayers and support. To Jenna.... You tell em girl.... and to Sweet Little Josie - Hang in there Baby Girl... the best is yet to come.

THIS IS ONE OF THE MOST CLOSE KNIT FAMILIES, THEY DON'T ASK FOR ANYTHING BUT PRAYERS FOR THIER FAMILY AND THE LITTLE BABY, THEY HOME SCHOOL THE KIDS, SO THE TAX MONEY THEY PAY IN FOR PROPERTY TAX OR STATE TAX PAYS FOR PUBLIC SCHOOL AND THEY DO NOT USE ANY OF THAT, SO CAN WE ALL SAFELY SAY THEY PAY FOR PUBLIC SCHOOL FOR OTHER CHILDREN BECAUSE THEY ARE HOME SCHOOLED. THEY DON'T ASK FOR ANY PUBLIC ASSISTANCE, THEY MAKE THIER OWN WAY, SO COULD WE ALL STOP THE JUDGING AND LEAVE THAT TO OUR LORD GOD! REMBER YOU TO WILL STAND BEFOR GOD TO BE JUDGED!

Glad to see Josie doing so well.

These morons are disgusting. This baby will have multiple special needs over the years..might be blind.....will probably be severely developmentally delayed...need speech therapy, physical therapy,.not to mention the millions in dollars in hospital bills that the rest of us will be kicking in for. The whole family is a freak show..a socially irresponsible freak show.

I'm sure the Duggars are genuinely "nice" people. They are bringing up their family to be respectful "good" people and I like that. Wish there was more of their brand of parenting in "normal" families. Having said that, I don't think it is fair to keep breeding uncontrollably as though they are running a high priced kennel, turning the older children into premature parents, just so they can continue with their quest to produce a baby every year on TV. THEY DON'T CARE that they are now bringing babies into the world that may be damaged because the mother is too old to be reproducing. Without the media this family would have great difficulty putting bread on the table. I do not approve of what they are doing.

jebus, enough already - giving celebrity status to this backwoods freakshow. why is every reality show on tlc populated with complete d0uches??? Really, so whan does your show air?

How do they support these kids??? It probably cost millions if not thousands to raise 1-3 kids! Did someone donate money to them??? Just thinking about such a large family gives me a headache. I don't know how a woman can put her body thru 19 pregnancies!!!

I love the Duggars, but I feel bad for their younger children especially baby Jordyn. She isnt even a year old yet and her mother is off pumping breastmilk for another baby. The older girls are raising this baby. I think it is time for her to stop and enjoy the children she has. Look what she is doing to the older children. Do you think they really want to be raising all of their mother's children? They will resent her one day for that.

  • February 17, 2010 - 2:34pm Truth Hurts

This is sad that this baby has to suffer because they refuse to use common sense and stop trying to build their own family cult!!!!!!!!!

  • February 17, 2010 - 2:34pm From A Large Family

Large families still occur even today, however, I have never seen a family more unified than the Duggars. It is their religious belief that if God doesn't want them to have another child, then Michelle won't get pregnant. To compare Jim Bob and Michelle to Jon and Kate Gosselin is a slap in the face to the Duggars. They were self sufficient long before the show and you don't see either one of them getting tummy tucks for free, hair extensions, trips to Disneyworld, etc like the Gosselins have done. The Gosselins I would say have been pimping out their children, not the Duggars. They have remained down to earth and steadfast for as long as they have been on TV. If God wants them to have 20, then Michelle will get pregnant again. A large family is fun to grow up in -- the lessons learned are much different than those in a household with only 1, 2 or 3 children.

None of you " REALLY" know the Duggars..only what you see on the show and read. Only in my opinion i think her body is probably telling her that this isnt working out anymore...maybe if she could give herself more time before getting pregnant again, then it might have been a different situation. It takes atleast one year for a womans body to recover just from the hormone changes that pregnancy causes. They practice their religion by the old testament..they can start to conceive 40 days after a girl and 80 days after a boy.

  • February 17, 2010 - 12:56pm Mary

With God, anything is possible. To tell someone that they are putting their kids in danger would be false because first time parents also go through this, so it doesn't matter how many kids you have. They were blessed with 18 healthy kids and I'm sure this 19th one will too. This family is smart and strong that whatever comes there way why can over come it with Gods help. I'm not very religious person at all but I do strongly believe in him to be there for all of us.

  • February 17, 2010 - 12:02pm Jon

I saw a bit of the clip before it stopped because of problems, and it was hard seeing it, but I'm really glad Josie is doing better!

  • February 17, 2010 - 12:01pm Krissy

Stop having kids!!! You are putting them in danager

  • February 17, 2010 - 11:31am Jane

Babies born this early go through so much. It's not fair to do this to another child. I don't know that I would call it suffering, but speaking as a NICU nurse, these infants undergo so much...

  • February 17, 2010 - 11:25am tg

It is apparent now that her body cannot carry an infant to term. Her child may have been born so premature as a result of her age and multiple pregnancies. In the best interest of herself and perhaps the fragile existence of her next pregnancy, I hope that she reconsiders becoming pregnant again. They are so blessed and fortunate that this baby survived as 25 week infants have alot stacked against them, not to mention future difficulties and potential complications. Count your blessings, thank God for this baby's survival and call it quits.

  • February 17, 2010 - 11:02am CRR

I think its great that these people love children, but there really has to come a time when you say enough is enough. She is 43 years old and this means she is at high risk for negative things happening in her pregnancies. And this just shows it is starting to happen. I feel that maybe she should not have another child. This should be their last. The next one may not be so lucky. It is now time to enjoy the grandkids and stop having kids of your own.
