In May 2009, Catelynn Lowell and her boyfriend Tyler Baltierra made the hardest decision of their young lives when they placed their newborn daughter Carly up for adoption on season 1 of MTV’s 16 and Pregnant.
They went on to chronicle the emotional adoption process on the spin-off series Teen Mom, and, now, five years later, the couple is once again expecting a baby.
After Lowell confirmed the news of her second pregnancy with a baby bump Instagram photo, revealing she’s four months along, Baltierra took the time to reflect back on their first child.
“The moment we never wanted to end #ThrowBackThursday #Carly #Adoption #MyGirls,” the reality star captioned the photo of the couple cradling their daughter.
Lowell and Baltierra still keep in touch with their little girl and travel the country as motivational speakers supporting adoption. The pair, who have been dating since middle school, plan to keep this child.
Though they got engaged in 2010, Baltierra and Lowell didn’t keep their July 2013 wedding date. After appearing on season 3 of VH1’s Couple’s Therapy in 2013, they decided to call off their engagement indefinitely.
