Vanessa Lachey: Camden Is an “Amazing” Older Brother to Little Sister Brooklyn

No sibling rivalry here! Vanessa Lachey stopped by Us Weekly‘s New York City offices this week and opened up exclusively about her kids Camden and Brooklyn, whom she shares with husband Nick Lachey. Camden, 2, became an older brother this past January with the birth of little Brooklyn, and is taking it well, according to the stunning TV personality, 34.

“When I introduced Camden to Brooklyn, I had my doctor give me some tips,” Lachey, who is partnering with March of Dimes in their #imbornto campaign, explained. “I had Camden give a gift to Brooklyn — we laid out three stuffed animals, we said, ‘Which one do you want to pick for Brooklyn?’ He goes, ‘That one, that one!’ and so he picked the little giraffe.”

“We brought it to her, and then we got a gift for her that we had literally in the hospital crib — he saw it, it was in a Thomas the Train bag — and he opened it and it was Hot Wheels cars, which he loves,” Lachey continued in her chat with Us. “We were like, ‘That’s from Brooklyn, that’s from baby sister to you!’ It’s kind of that mutual playing field right off the bat.”

In addition to his love for Hot Wheels cars, Camden has another big passion, Lachey spilled.

“Camden loves all books,” she gushed of her son. “He loves reading. He’s amazing at that, he wants story time over and over and over again. And activities? He’s doing everything! He’s a 2-and-a-half-year-old boy, he’s into it all. Nick loves it. He’s a good older brother, he’s amazing.”

While Brooklyn, nearly 4 months, is far from reading, she’s made her own strides as she grows.

“I love laughing at her and watching her laugh back at me. She thinks I’m funny,” Lachey said of her daughter. “She’s great. Three and a half months and she’s in the social smile stage. They’re smiling at something they’re reacting to, not because of gas, which is the initial smile, the gas smile.”

“At first, when you have the baby, you’re like ‘Oh, you’re smiling at me!'” added the mother of two. “No they weren’t. You’ll know… It’s the best feeling.”
