Adam “Ad-Rock” Horovitz, Vin Diesel Have Bizarre Feud Over Breakdancing

Beastie Boy Adam Horovitz and Vin Diesel
Adam Ad-Rock Horovitz says Vin Diesel never danced for the Beastie Boys.

2015's most unexpected feud may already be here. Adam "Ad-Rock" Horovitz is in a bit of a spat with Vin Diesel, of all people, over breakdancing, of all things.

The misunderstanding began last week, when Diesel appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! in promotion of Furious 7. "You were a professional dancer with the Beastie Boys, is that true?" host Jimmy Kimmel prompted the actor, 47, who was discussing his earliest concerts and time as a teen.

"I danced for the Beastie Boys," Diesel confirmed, nodding and smiling as he spoke. "Yeah. Well, they lived in my neighborhood and I was breakdancing on the street. I wanted to get into a club called Danceteria and I was 16 years old and they said, 'Come on, you're gonna be our dancer.' Then I got in free every night after that."

Unfortunately for the Riddick star, his story of teen coolness lasted just one week, as the Beastie Boys' Ad-Rock poked holes in Diesel's version of events on Late Night with Seth Meyers on Monday, April 6.

"Look, I didn't want to talk about this but my best friend Nadia Dajani said that I have to…" Horovitz, 48, began, naming his longtime actress friend. "I don't wanna start a whole thing but I did see on the internets [that] Vin Diesel, one of my favorite actors — if you haven't seen the movie XXX I suggest you get high or drunk and watch it because it's f–king funny as s–t — claimed on Jimmy Kimmel's show last week that he was a breakdancer for Beastie Boys, and he was not! No, he Vanilla Iced. He straight Vanilla Iced."

The celebrated performer quickly shot down Diesel's claim that he danced with the group, telling Seth Meyers that there is no way that it happened. When asked by the talk show host if there was any way that Diesel could have misinterpreted just what went down decades ago, Horovitz offered up a theory from his wife Kathleen Hanna.

"What my wife Kathleen was saying, was that perhaps, we were going into Danceteria — this was a club we used to go to all the time when we were kids — and that one of us, probably Yauch cause he's a nice guy, saw this kid and was like, 'Ya know, just, we'll say you're a breakdancer, you know, you're with our band, blah, blah, blah,'" he explained, naming his late Beastie Boys bandmate Adam "MCA" Yauch. "That could've happened, but that's not the way that Mark Vincent told it, or Vin Diesel."

"He said he was a breakdancer for the Beastie Boys! That's weird, you guys!" Horovitz added. Of the quasi-feud between the two, the musician laughed to Meyers, "He's big and muscly though! What happens?"

"He said that we saw him on the street breakdancing and were like, 'Come on!'" Ad-Rock dished. "I've never seen anybody on the street I didn't know and said, 'Come on!' That never happened."
