Casual guidance from Adele! The British singer kicked off her 25 World Tour on Monday, February 29, in Belfast, and one woman got some help proposing to her boyfriend for Leap Year. (As the tradition goes, women proposing to men on February 29 on a Leap Year brings good luck to a marriage.)
The "Hello" singer, 27, opened up to concertgoers throughout her show about some, er, gastrointestinal issues. "I've been f--king s--tting myself all day," she said at one point. As the show progressed, however, the superstar transitioned into a more palatable topic: love.
While engaging with her fans, Adele asked couples (at least those ready for marriage) to come up for Leap Year proposals. While numerous followers offered to come up on stage — who wouldn't want to be in the presence of Adele? — one woman was serious about proposing for Leap Year, even after being rejected hours earlier.
"I asked him earlier today," the young woman, whose name was hard to decipher in the clip, told Adele of her boyfriend. "He said maybe in a little while."
"You have to say a proper yes, bruv!" Adele told the guy, who was named Neil. Then she used her charisma to get things moving. Pointing at Neil, the chart-topper riled up the crowd to pressure him into accepting his girlfriend's proposal. "After three, everyone, say, 'Come on, Neil!'" she told her massive audience as they yelled, "Come on, Neil!"
From his seat, Neil accepted, and Adele adorably jumped up and down on stage. As if they weren't lucky enough already (Leap Day, Adele, love and marriage), she made one final comment about their wedding location.
"Essex? That's down the road from me,” quipped Adele, who lives nearby in London. "I'll come. I'll see you shaking your ass."
