Hello from the other side of the pond. Adele has been busy making her $9.5 million Beverly Hills mansion “her new home base,” a source reveals in the new issue of Us Weekly.
While in town for eight sold-out shows this month, the London native, 28, was spotted playing in her yard with 3-year-old son (with partner Simon Konecki), Angelo, and also taking her boy for several walks around their new community. (Nicole Richie and Joel Madden live nearby!)
“She’s always incognito in a hat and glasses,” a neighbor says of the Grammy winner, who is touring the U.S. in support of her multiplatinum album 25 until early November. “But she’s very friendly!”
The “Someone Like You” singer even playfully teased a local while grocery shopping at Santa Monica’s Bristol Farms August 9. “A customer approached her and asked, ‘Are you Adele?’” recalls an onlooker. “And in her clear British accent, she said, ‘No!’”
Days later, rumor had it that the NFL had asked Adele to headline next February’s Super Bowl Halftime Show in Houston. But she said she turned down the offer.
“That show is not about music,” she told concertgoers during her August 13 performance at Los Angeles’ Staples Center. “I know I’m not Beyoncé. I can’t dance or anything like that.”
However, the NFL and Super Bowl sponsor Pepsi released a joint statement August 14 saying that the companies are “big fans of Adele,” but they hadn’t made a “formal offer” to anyone for next year’s show.
“We have had conversations with several artists about the Pepsi Super Bowl Halftime Show,” they said. “However, we have not at this point extended a formal offer to Adele or anyone else.”
