Ali Fedotowsky is finally ready to pipe up.
Back in November, the popular Bachelorette star announced that she and Roberto Martinez were calling it quits after 18 months together and three canceled wedding dates.
The 27-year-old former Facebook employee turned TV personality broke her silence to E! News -- and says it wasn't one sticking point, or one knock-down drag-out fight that made she and insurance agent Martinez, 28, decide to say goodbye.
"There was [never] just one moment" when the couple realized marriage wouldn't work, Fedotowsky says.
"We were really trying to make it work, and realizing it wasn't getting better," she admits.
After Martinez's romantic proposal on the season-six finale of The Bachelorette in 2009, she and her man moved in together to his hometown in San Diego; a pal told Us at the time the relationship was "tumultuous from day one."
Indeed, the reality star says now: "We were unhappy more than we were happy, and something needed to change...I didn't want to let people down."
And, yes, her fans weren't happy. "I felt anger from my followers, fans," she says. "The pressure was to make sure we did what would make both of us happy."
The upshot? "For the first time in my life," Fedotowsky says, "I'm happy with me and who I am and being single."
