Disharmony in Mexico. A fan rushed the stage during a Fifth Harmony concert in Monterrey, Mexico, Thursday, September 19, grabbed singer Ally Brooke Hernandez, and knocked her to her feet. While the singer, 23, promptly stood back up, the male attacker was dragged off stage by security. The incident was captured by another concertgoer on video, which you can watch above.
Unfortunately, the attack marks the Texas native’s second since arriving in Mexico. Earlier this week, a fan hoping to snap a selfie rushed and grabbed Hernandez at the airport when Fifth Harmony arrived in the country.
“Just to let you know, I am ok after the airport incident,” she posted on Twitter Wednesday, September 28. “Please be careful and gentle so nobody gets hurt. That was scary. Thank you!”
Despite the airport incident, Hernandez kept her spirits high. “Monterrey, I couldn’t be happier to be here!” she continued. “It’s been a dream of mine since I was little. My favorite singer Selena Quintanilla had many beautiful performances here. And now I get to perform in this city! I’m beyond honored & proud.”
Fifth Harmony are scheduled to perform one more show in the country this week at Guadalajara’s Auditorio Telmex. The Mexico incidents come one month after the girl group’s Normani Kordei left Twitter due to racial cyberbullying.
“I can’t subject myself any longer to the hate,” the 20-year-old posted on Twitter August 6. “I’m not the first black female celebrity to deal with this and I’m sure I won’t be the last. I want to take this moment to say Love goes much further than hate in this world. Hiding behind a computer and putting people down, especially for the color of their skin doesn’t make you cool, it makes you a coward!”
When she returned to the social media platform September 13, Kordei said she had a mission.
“I want to raise awareness of the support that is available to people affected while playing my part in contributing to a kinder and more positive internet for everybody,” the Atlanta native, who partnered with anti-cyberbullying organization CyberSmile, explained on Twitter. “It’s important to stand up to all forms of bullying, and it’s even more important for those who are around you to be just as courageous and stand with you! Together, we can put an end to the hate and promote only positivity and love.”
