Amber Heard Accuses Johnny Depp of Drug and Alcohol Abuse, Assaulting Her on Her Birthday: ‘I Am Extremely Afraid’

Just days after filing for divorce, Amber Heard is accusing husband Johnny Depp of assaulting her on her birthday and having a long history of drug and alcohol abuse in a series of shocking new allegations.

The Danish Girl star, 30, detailed her allegedly tumultuous relationship with the Pirates of the Caribbean actor, 52, during a court appearance in Los Angeles on Friday, May 27.

“I am extremely afraid of Johnny and for my safety,” Heard said in her declaration for a restraining order, which was temporarily granted against Depp on Friday.

The actress — who filed for divorce on Monday, May 23, after more than a year of marriage, citing irreconcilable differences — also suggested that Depp enroll in anger management treatment, according to Variety.

“His relationship with reality oscillates depending on his interaction with alcohol and drugs,” she explained. “Johnny has a long-held and widely-acknowledged public and private history of drug and alcohol abuse. He has a short fuse. He is often paranoid and his temper is exceptionally scary.”

Police told Us Weekly on Friday that despite Heard’s claims, they found no evidence for a report when they were called to the couple’s Los Angeles home on Saturday, May 21.

The Magic Mike XXL actress told the judge that her birthday celebration on April 21 turned violent when the Alice Through the Looking Glass star showed up “inebriated and high.”

“After my guests left, Johnny and I had a discussion about his absence from my birthday celebration which deteriorated into a bad argument that started with Johnny throwing a magnum size bottle of champagne against the wall and a wine glass on me and the floor,” she recounted. “Johnny grabbed me by the hair and violently shoved me to the floor. Johnny was also screaming and threatening me, taunting me to stand up. After several minutes, Johnny stormed out of the condominium, not before tossing aside and breaking nearly everything in his path. I did not see him for another month.”

When Heard and Depp finally reunited on May 21, just one day after his mom Betty Sue Palmer’s death, he was “inebriated and high” once again.

“When Johnny arrived at first, we were having a peaceful conversation in our living room about his mother’s passing as I tried to comfort him while we sat on the couch,” she said in her declaration. “Suddenly, he began obsessing about something that was untrue and his demeanor changed dramatically. He became extremely angry. I tried to calm Johnny down by calling one of his trusted employees to alleviate his misplaced concerns, but it did not work.”

The starlet continued, noting that she “began to have concerns” for her safety and called her friend and neighbor Raquel.

“Johnny then grabbed [my] cell phone, wound up his arm like a baseball pitcher and threw the cell phone at me, striking my cheek with great force,” she explained. “I immediately covered my face and was crying because of the pain resulting from the phone hitting me.”

Heard then revealed that Depp charged at her, pulled her hair, hit her and “violently grabbed” her face before leaving the house.

On Thursday, May 26, the actor’s rep told Us in a statement, “Given the brevity of this marriage and the most recent and tragic loss of his mother, Johnny will not respond to any of the salacious false stories, gossip, misinformation and lies about his personal life. Hopefully the dissolution of this short marriage will be resolved quickly.”

The next hearing on the case is set for June 17.
