When Laura Bretan initially took the stage, she appeared to be nervous, perhaps because newcomer judge Simon Cowell tore apart previous contestants’ auditions. But as soon as she opened her mouth to sing an incredible rendition of “Nessun Dorma,” Cowell, 56, Heidi Klum, Mel B. and Howie Mandel looked at one another in complete surprise and amazement.

“That didn’t just happen!” said Cowell, who has previously worked as a judge on Pop Idol, The X Factor U.K., Britain’s Got Talent, The X Factor U.S. and, most famously, American Idol. “You came out like a jelly. I didn’t think you were going to be able to talk, and then that just happened. I have never heard anything like that in all the years I’ve been doing this show. It was unbelievable. What made it even better is the fact that you are such a sweet person. So humble. Not even aware of how amazing you are.”

Mel B., 41, was just as amazed — and even used her Golden Buzzer to send Bretan straight to the live shows. “This show is going to completely change your life, and I’m going to change your life right now,” the Spice Girls singer said before pressing the buzzer.

As a burst of confetti fell down onto the stage, Bretan exclaimed, “This has been a dream come true!”
