America’s Next Top Model Contestant Killed in Triple Homicide

ANTM alum Mirjana Puhar was killed in a triple homicide at age 19 on Feb. 24

Mirjana Puhar, a contestant from America's Next Top Model's most recent cycle, was killed Tuesday in a triple homicide in Charlotte, North Carolina. She was 19.

The Charlotte-Mecklenburg police said that the aspiring model was slain alongside Jonathan Cosme Alvarado, 23, and Jusmar Isiah Gonzaga-Garcia, 21, in the home they shared. Emmanuel Jesus Rangel, 19, was charged with three counts of first-degree murder.

Investigators say that preliminary signs suggest the murders were drug-related and that the suspect knew the three victims. There have been unconfirmed news reports claiming that Alvarado was Puhar's boyfriend and Gonzaga-Garcia's best friend, and that the three had been roommates in the house where they were killed. Puhar reportedly only recently moved in with the two men and had only been dating Alvarado for a few months.

After being tipped off by a source, officers arrived at the Norris Avenue residence around 5 p.m. Tuesday, where they discovered the grisly scene. Though authorities have not confirmed how the victims died, there were multiple reports of gunshots being fired.

The suspected killer, Rangel, is also one of three people charged in connection to a murder in Matthews (a suburb of Charlotte) that occurred on Sunday. Matthews police spokesman Tim Aykock said that, at this point, they don't "know for sure" if the two cases are related, but noted, "It's very suspicious that the same guy is charged" in each of them.

During Puhar's time on America's Next Top Model, she did quite well. The stunning teen, who was a native of Serbia, made it to the 10th episode before being cut. Details from this tragedy are still unfolding and reps from the CW have not yet responded to requests for comment.
