Simon Cowell's pal Andrew Silverman is finally breaking his silence after Us Weekly revealed that the X Factor judge is expecting a baby with Andrew's estranged wife Lauren -- and the real estate mogul's primary concern is their 7-year-old son.

"My top priority is protecting my 7-year-old son while working to resolve all outstanding issues with my wife," Andrew tells Us in a statement. "Hopefully people can respect the interest of our child during this process."

Insiders told Us that Andrew and Lauren, 36, had been "unhappy in their marriage for some time," but divorce papers that Andrew filed two weeks ago tell a different story. Cowell, 53, is named as a co-respondent in the filings.

"It's really a signal to the spouse who cheated that the wronged spouse is very angry and that it's going to be a very nasty, scorched-earth, high-profile litigation," divorce attorney Martha Cohen Stine explained to the Post.

On Wednesday, July 31, Us Weekly exclusively revealed that Cowell and Lauren are expecting a child together, and that Lauren is around 10 weeks along.

"Their divorce has been in the works for a while," a source told Us of Andrew and Lauren's relationship. "As their marriage deteriorated, she and Simon became close."

Lauren showed off a slight baby bump stepping out with her son in the Hamptons on Thursday, Aug. 1, wearing black leggings, a blue cap, and sandals. The New York socialite had a big smile on her face.
