Denver Broncos cornerback Aqib Talib was hospitalized after being shot at a strip club in Dallas on Sunday, June 5.
The NFL star was one of two people who were shot during a fight at V Live nightclub early Sunday morning, the Dallas Morning News reports.
According to multiple reports, both Talib, 30, and the other victim were taken to Medical City Dallas Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
NFL Network reporter Jeff Darlington confirmed via Twitter that the Broncos player was “released from the emergency room and is no longer in the hospital.”
Denver Broncos Vice President of Public Relations Patrick Smyth later tweeted that the cornerback was treated for a gunshot wound to his leg, adding, “He’s OK.”
Talib helped lead the Broncos to a victory over the Carolina Panthers in Super Bowl 50 in February. Before joining the Denver team, he played for the New England Patriots and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Since starting his career in the NFL, the athlete has been involved in several legal and conduct issues. In 2008, he was involved in a fistfight with a fellow Buccaneers rookie. A year later, he was arrested for simple battery and resisting arrest for assaulting a taxi driver. In 2011, he was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after an altercation with his sister’s boyfriend. The charges were dropped in June 2012 due to “insufficient evidence,” according to the Tampa Bay Times.
