They kept their romance under wraps for months, but Avril Lavigne and Chad Kroeger decided to open up about their relationship — and their engagement! — on the September 10 cover of Hello! Canada.
Lavigne, 27, proudly flashes her 14-carat diamond ring on the cover of the special double issue, with Nickelback frontman Kroeger, 37, wrapping his arms around the "Complicated" singer.
The couple met while working on Lavigne's forthcoming fifth album in February, and Kroeger popped the question August 8. "I knew I was falling for her," Kroeger told Hello! Canada of their intense studio sessions. "It was incredibly powerful and something I'll never forget."
According to once-wed Lavigne, Kroeger "makes me laugh every day. He takes care of me in every way and is extremely attentive."
Kroeger adds that because of Lavigne, "I feel like the luckiest person alive because I get to be with my best friend every day!"
Prior to her relationship with Kroeger, Lavigne dated Hills reality star Brody Jenner, 29, on-and-off from 2010-2012. She was married to Sum 41 singer and guitarist Deryck Whibley, 32, from 2006-2010. This will be the first marriage for Kroeger.
