Rest in peace, little one. “Bernie Baby” Oliver Lomas tragically died of sudden infant death syndrome on Thursday, February 25, according to his mom Souxsie Lomas’ social media posts. He was just shy of 4 months old.
“Oliver Jack Carter Lomas… I love you dearly, I love you most,” she captioned an adorable snapshot of her son nestled in a Baby Björn. “I love you with all my heart and soul. I know that God will keep you near since God and truth are here.”
Oliver became a social media sensation earlier this year after his mom dressed him up in a white wig and dark-rimmed glasses to look like Democratic presidential hopeful Bernie Sanders.
The tiny tot even got a chance to meet his political doppelgänger during a rally in Las Vegas a few weeks before his death. In a particularly adorable photo, Oliver grins while looking off camera as Sanders, 74, breaks out in a big smile looking at him.
The family started a GoFundMe page to help raise money for the baby’s memorial service and burial, which will take place at the Forest Lawn Cemetery in Hollywood Hills on Tuesday, March 8. As of Thursday, the Lomas’ had already reached — and surpassed — their goal.
