Love at first red chair turn? Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani have been longtime pals and costars on NBC’s The Voice, but the pair recently took their relationship to another level. On Wednesday, Nov. 4, Stefani’s rep exclusively confirmed to Us Weekly that the country singer, 39, and the No Doubt frontwoman, 46, had started dating.
Though the ball really got rolling this summer after they split from their respective spouses — Shelton and Miranda Lambert ended their four-year marriage in July, while Stefani and Gavin Rossdale announced their divorce in August — the chemistry between these two has been apparent for years.
In September 2014, when Stefani first joined The Voice, Shelton gushed about the pop rocker’s impressive career in a behind-the-scenes video with NBC.
“I absolutely did not see this coming, the level of brilliance Gwen and Pharrell [Williams] brought into the game,” Shelton said at the time. “Gwen Stefani is Gwen Stefani, she is just an icon.”
Then this past September, the previously taped Blind Auditions of The Voice premiered, with the newly single coaches exuding more chemistry than ever. In early October, Us Weekly first broke the story that the pair were flirting up a storm on The Voice set, and that blossomed into even more appearances in which the two were put together.
While performing karaoke on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, the pair sang a duet to Drake’s “Hotline Bling” after lip syncing to Lionel Richie’s “Endless Love” on the show the year before.
But it was Halloween weekend that really raised some eyebrows when Stefani and Shelton attended several costume parties together, holding hands and having a blast together.
